Registration Fee: RM 20 Information Technology (IT) for Accounting and Taxation Firms Tuesday, 23 February 2010 MIA Orchid Room The use of technology today is an undeniable leverage. Increase in productivity because of the adoption of technology has been well documented within our accountancy industry. Technology as a tool for managing risk especially for tax practices is also widely accepted. The advent of ISQC 1 had called for a firm’s holistic adoption of technology ranging from the management of personnel to the billings of clients as well as the production of audit working papers. Same goes for the tax’s self assessment regime and its myriad penalties. So, why are some firms still reluctant to invest in technology? The issue lies with the partners’ & senior managements’ reluctant to embrace technology. In this respect, the Public Practice Department is organising a one day programme to enable software houses to showcase their products to members. The software programmes that will be demonstrated will be those in the auditing and taxation arena. We have invited some well known company that specialises in these 2 areas to share their insight with our members. Going forward, perhaps one of the key performance Indicators (KPI) that firms need to track will be their annual IT spending. Objectives To create awareness among members of the importance of IT investment; To showcase IT software programmes available in the market for auditing & taxation.
