Pat Murphy Promoted to President of
Property and Casualty Division for The Miller Group.
Dan Murray joins as Director of Operations
as one of several company new hires.
(Overland Park, Kansas) March 7, 2014 - The Miller Group, one of Kansas City’s largest locally owned, full-service
insurance and employee benefit firms, announces several new hires and promotions as the company prepares to
sustain recent double-digit growth.


Pat Murphy is a principal of the firm. Previously, he was president of the Community Service Providers Division,
specializing in property and casualty for nonprofit agencies. In his new role, he will manage the entire scope of
commercial insurance products and services across all industry segments, including construction which continues
to be a company focus.
Dan Murray’s insurance career spans 32 years and is equally divided between the insurance company and
brokerage side of the business. He brings with him expertise in underwriting, marketing and management roles, in
addition to national account management and captives.
Ken Sigman was formerly president of Health Benefits Systems, Inc., a Kansas City-based health and wellness
agency. Health Benefits Systems and The Miller Group joined forces in February to strengthen their collective
service offerings, particularly in the area of corporate wellness.
Mindy McDermott, previously of MSM Communications, will be responsible for all brand management
deliverables and internal and external communications.
Ashley Hund, Account Manager, supports the day-to-day servicing of employee benefit clients, handling carrier
marketing and selection, plan design and review, employee communications, and execution of corporate wellness
programs.
