Career Destination Research Assignment CLB Level: CLB 4 Method: Essential Skills Focus: 1. Introduce the students to the website by showing it to them via a data projector. Pre-teach key Computer Use (Use computer software) Reading (Read a full text to understand and learn) vocabulary found on the website. Discuss synonyms for these words (ie profile and occupational field) 2. Explain to the students the Essential Skills Focus: Computer Use, Reading and Oral Communication. Also Oral Communication (Use speech to communicate information) Task: Read and describe information from the Career Destination Manitoba for Newcomers website explain the CLB Outcomes: Reading an Informational Text and Presenting Information. 3. Hand out the “Career Destination Research Assignment Sheet” and review with the students. 4. Handout out the Rubric and review with students. 5. Allow the students ample time to browse the website, take notes and prepare their presentation. Circulate and assist when necessary. Purpose: Students will Find, read and present information Materials: Career Destination Research Assignment Sheet Follow Up: Students will present their information to the class and the teacher will complete the assessment rubric. Once the students have received their rubrics they can complete the self reflection section and put the rubric in their portfolio.
