Method:
Essential Skills Focus:
1. Introduce the students to the website by showing it
to them via a data projector. Pre-teach key

Reading (Read a full text

for these words (ie profile and occupational field)
2. Explain to the students the Essential Skills Focus:
Computer Use, Reading and Oral Communication. Also

explain the CLB Outcomes: Reading an Informational
Text and Presenting Information.
3. Hand out the “Career Destination Research
Assignment Sheet” and review with the students.
4. Handout out the Rubric and review with students.
5. Allow the students ample time to browse the website,
take notes and prepare their presentation. Circulate
and assist when necessary.

occupation as you

If you don’t have an occupation yet, choose a story about a person you find
interesting

Be prepared to present your information to the class
Some questions to consider when preparing your presentation:
1. What is the name of the person being profiled?
2. What is their occupational field?
3. What is their country of origin?
4. What type of education does this person have?
5. What are the recommended language skills for this occupation?
6. How did this person get their qualifications recognized?
7. What has this person noticed about the workplace culture in Manitoba?
8. What does this person like about life in Manitoba? What are some of the
challenges?
9. Does this person have any plans for the future?
