Pulley lab
Objective: To create three different kinds of pulleys, find the Actual Mechanical
Advantage (AMA), and efficiency of each system.
Materials:
 Ring stand
 Stand clamp
 Newtons scale
 2 single pulleys
 2 double pulleys (have to share, when done put back)
 6’ of string
 masses (make sure they are over 50g)
Directions:
You need to build a fixed pulley, moveable pulley, and finally a block and tackle pulley
system. For each:
1. Find the actual mechanical advantage (AMA).
2. Draw and label your pulleys

Examples:
Fr = 1000N & Fe = 500N
MA = 1000N / 500N = 2
