100th Anniversary Fiesta

Program Description: Join us for a Girl Scout birthday fiesta at Camp Bette Perot. Enjoy a horseback ride, archery and a craft.
Saturday evening join the Tejas Riders as they perform a flag ceremony horseback and special 100th anniversary drill
performance. Meals are provided Sat breakfast through Sunday breakfast. Take home a special 100th anniversary patch.

Program Description: The world was changing very quickly at the turn of the century, and technology was bringing lots of
changes to everyday life. How do those inventions continue to affect your life today? Explore the Depot, General Store and

A Fairy Tale Comes to Life / Girl Scout Nights
Grade Levels Served - All
Program Description: Every year Plano Metropolitan Ballet thrills audiences of all ages with their original production of a
classic fairy tale. There is comedy, magic, love and a little mischief in each production. PMB's special Girl Scout Night! is an
"open-curtain" performance in which the audience gets to observe the entire production, including warm-up. After the
performance there will be a Q&A session with the entire company. A custom designed patch is included with ALL performances.
Additional performances are available. Girl Scouts will receive a patch; however, there will be no warm-up viewing or Q&A on
these dates. By watching a fine arts performance, girls gain an appreciation for the arts, which can help develop a strong sense
of self. Girl Scouts are able to see how putting together a production of this magnitude requires teamwork and cooperation.

A Healthier You

Program Description: Discover what healthy habits you can learn now that will help you develop a fun and healthy life.
Included in the workshop will be information about healthy bones, physical activity, and sun safety. Some girls and women see a
distorted picture of how they look. Together, the girls will talk about body image. Girls will use their creative talents to take action
and make a card for a person living in a nursing home in our community.

ABCs of Good Manners
Grade Levels Served - Daisies
Program Description: We offer a 1 hour tea party for Daisy Girl Scouts to earn a petal. We start by practicing introductions and
greetings then move into table manners while having “tea” and snacks. Moms are encouraged to attend – mother, daughter tea
parties are always much more fun! A beautiful, color, princess style certificate will be given to each girl for completing the
course. The troop will need to provide the food and the "tea". We will provide the china, utensils and napkins. The troop can
reserve a space at a restaurant for a genuine big girl experience. Each of the classes can be done at your meeting space, or at
one of the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas offices depending on your troops needs. We encourage smaller troops to find another
troop of the same level to have class with so we can make new friends and learn from each other’s experiences.

ABCs of Good Manners - Life, For Real!
Grade Levels Served - Cadettes, Seniors, Ambassadors
Program Description: Cadette, Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts will have an etiquette refresher with more of an emphasis
on how they present themselves to the world beyond the school doors. How they judge others for their surface appearances and
how they wish to be seen during job or other interview situations. This active discourse is a 2 hour class. The cost is $15 per girl
including all materials and a light snack. Each of the classes can be done at your meeting space or at one of the Girl Scouts of
Northeast Texas offices depending on your troops needs. We encourage smaller troops to find another troop of the same
Program Grade Level (PGL) to have class with so we can make new friends and learn from each other’s experiences. Please
call in advance so we can work together on accomplishing this.

Program Description: The twists and turns of friendships and relationships are the focus of this journey. Work with other Girl
Scouts and a GTW Counselor to define what healthy friendships are, how to be a good friend, and what to do when your best
friend is no longer acting like your best friend. Topics will include: making first impressions, healthy friendships, peer pressure,

American Heart Association First Aid, CPR, and AED

Program Description: Course teaches how to manage illness and injuries in the first few minutes until professional help
arrives, as well as how to perform CPR and use and AED. Course content includes General Principles, Medical Emergencies,
Injury Emergencies, CPR and AED. Students must be able to perform the required CPR in order to successfully complete the
class and receive their AHA First Aid & CPR card.

An Old-Fashioned Christmas
Grade Levels Served - All
Program Description: This public holiday event will teach about how holidays were celebrated one hundred years ago. Girl
Scouts will learn about the history of their community while reflecting on how life has changed in the past century. Victorian
carolers stroll the grounds of the 1909 historic home spreading cheer. Guides provide informal tours of the 1909 home
decorated for the season. Make Christmas crafts while enjoying hot chocolate and homemade-style cookies. Petting zoo and
storytellers also on site. No registration required. Come and go from 6:00pm to 8:30pm .

Babysitters’ Guide to Poison Prevention

Program Description: The Babysitters’ Guide to Poison Prevention is a 30-45 minute presentation for girls in grades 4-12 to
learn about ways to keep young children safe from unintentional poisonings that may occur in the home while babysitting. They
will also learn how to bring their caregiving skills to a new level of expertise with the appropriate steps to take if an emergency
situation occurs, whether poison related or not.

Babysitting Basics

Program Description: Babysitting is an important job. It’s a lot more than just playing with children while the parents are away.
Babysitting Basics covers safety, child-tending skills, and first aid. Are you prepared for a babysitting job? Upon completion of
the course you will have the skills to: Know what to do in case of a fire, prevent accidents, answering the telephone or door,
feeding children and bath and bedtime routines. Care for babies, change a diaper and comfort a crying baby Apply basic first
aid, help a choking child and perform CPR. Upon completion of the workbook and activities students receive a certificate of
completion and a workbook for future reference. *This Class is instructed by Revive CPR of Texas, certified instructors through
the American Heart Association. This is a 2 1/2 hour program.

Bead it Up!

Program Description: Girl Scout Juniors work towards badge requirements at this in-store workshop as they have fun learning
about and creating jewelry. Girls make pieces from everyday objects, from objects found in nature, and beads (of course). Girls
will also create a macramé piece and a friendship bracelet and decorate a jewelry box. Cost: $10 per girl. Plan for approximately
2 ½ hours. You’re welcome to bring snacks and hold a short troop meeting either before or after the class. Class is also
available as a badge-in-a-box for use at a troop meeting. Cost: $7.50 per girl plus shipping.

Becoming A Teen

Program Description: The journey girls will make to become a teenager is an exciting and challenging one. This fun and
interactive workshop will help girls identify people and resources to guide them on their journey. Our health experts will have an
age appropriate discussion on puberty including developmental changes and hygiene. Girls will discover what to expect as their
body changes and tips to help them develop daily rituals for skin and hair care. They will have an opportunity to connect with
other girls as they discuss the new responsibilities that tweens face and if the media accurately portrays today’s tweens.

Beauty Inside and Out

Program Description: True beauty comes from within! This session is one of the kids’ favorites. Girls will learn about
representation through body language, personality, and presentation, along with how to take care of their physical appearance
at their age. At the end of the session, the girls will learn about posture and how to do a runway walk. Each session is typically
one hour in length, but can be adjusted. All sessions are age appropriate, and can be catered however needed.

Brownies Can Paint a Masterpiece!

Program Description: Create a masterpiece land or seascape using acrylics in a step-by-step workshop with a professional
artist. Discover color mixing using the color wheel, learn the five basic values of color in any object and time-saving brush
techniques and application to canvas. All supplies are included as well as individual critiques from instructor.

Program Description: Butter is a culinary treasure as old as King Tut's tomb. In this workshop, we will discuss the history and
development of butter making and its importance in society. The presenter will be in 19th century costume and focus on the
process commonly used on the family farm at that time. Girls will learn a little about the science of milk and butter making. Girls
will make (and eat) their own butter and learn by experience how time consuming this chore was. They will learn several new

Program Description: We offer a 1 hour tea party for Daisy Girl Scouts to earn a petal. We start by practicing introductions and
greetings then move into table manners while having “tea” and snacks. Moms are encouraged to attend – mother, daughter tea
parties are always much more fun! A beautiful, color, princess style certificate will be given to each girl for completing the
course. The troop will need to provide the food and the "tea". We will provide the china, utensils and napkins. If you would like to
go all out, the troop can reserve a space at a restaurant for a genuine big girl experience. Each of the classes can be done at
your meeting space, or at one of the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas offices depending on your troops needs. We encourage
smaller troops to find another troop of the same Program Grade Level (PGL) to have class with so we can make new friends

Program Description: Cadette, Senior and Ambassador Girl Scouts will have an etiquette refresher with more of an emphasis
on how they present themselves to the world beyond the school doors. How they judge others for their surface appearances and
how they wish to be seen during job or other interview situations. This active discourse is a 2 hour class. The cost is $15 per girl
including all materials and a light snack. Each of the classes can be done at your meeting space or at one of the Girl Scouts of
Northeast Texas offices depending on your troops needs. We encourage smaller troops to find another troop of the same

Fur Trapper and His Pelts

Program Description: The fur trading industry played a major role in the development of North America for more than 300
years. This unique program allows girls to visit with a 19th century fur trapper. He will bring more than 30 pelts of nondomesticated animals commonly found in Texas during the 1800’s including an American Bison and Black Bear. He will discuss
(girls allowed to touch) as many pelts as time allows and point out distinctive physical traits of each explaining why that trait is
important to the animal’s survival. He will also touch on topics such as predator/prey, nocturnal, extinction, dangers, etc.

Program Description: Children Act Fast…So Do Poisons is a 30-45 minute interactive presentation for girls K-3 that teaches
girls how to recognize substances and situations which involve potential poisoning hazards and help them develop a sense of

After you have completed an initial kayak program, you will want to include the kayak roll in your tool bag of kayak skills. During

work hard; but that is the nature of learning the roll. This program will be taught in a swimming pool in an environment which

Program Description: Demonstration includes an interactive, entertaining and informative show about yo-yos and other spinning
skill toys, including spin tops, followed by hands-on yo-yo lessons if space and numbers permit! Girls are exposed to simple
science concepts of physics while having fun learning how to yo-yo! Learning a new skill builds self-esteem, develops eye-hand
coordination and catching skills and demonstrates the life-long benefits of practice! Each participant receives a professional
quality yo-yo. Additional yo-yos and tops available for purchase if desired.

Winter Western Family Camp
Grade Levels Served – All
Program Description: Get the whole family together for this western themed family campout. Connect with each other as you
enjoy an indoor craft, horseback riding, and a western evening at the Camp Bette Perot arena. Take a hayride to the barn
Saturday evening to watch the Tejas Riders perform, then join in the fun with a calf scramble, boot race, egg race and other
family fun. Take home a western backdrop family photo and a family camp patch to preserve your memories.
Price: $22 per person to camp and participate in activities; additional $25 per person fee applies for horseback riding (2nd grade
and up) or $15 per person (1st grade and under).

Words of Women International Women’s Day

Words of Women International Essay Contest

Program Description: Girl Scouts use research and writing skills to discover and tell the stories of Mothers, Grandmothers,
Women. Girls Scouts are involved in a living “herstory” project when they write a 500-word essay on The Most Significant Thing
That Happened to Women This Year or The Most Influential Woman in My Life. This international “herstory” project and essay
contest can be an individual or Girl Scout Troop project. An essay, a scrapbook, and an archive project, this international
program chronicles the story of local and international women in our own words. Essays are the highlighted attraction at
International Women’s Day Celebration at The Women's Museum.

Program Description: Apply STEM skills in a real work environment! Open your Girl Scouts’ eyes to challenging new horizons
beyond high school. Especially designed for those students who are creative with both their minds and their hands. Through
their high-tech, interactive labs, UTI will show your group the value of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) in
today’s high-tech, high-touch marketplace. Girl Scouts will get a chance to: *Build and test models of a design solution * Work
with gear set manipulation and engine diagnostics *Use algebra to analyze, interpret and communicate experimental results
*Explore a variety of technologies including engine computer analysis. STEM curriculum comes to life as Girl Scouts work

You Be The Star!

Program Description: This film class builds confidence and camera skills. Transport yourself into a famous scene from a well
known movie. Using a “green screen” and special software, you have the ability to portray an actor in a snippit of a famous film.
This exercise allows the students to see themselves as others do in different situations. After the students film themselves in the
scene, then it can be replayed. Several “takes” can be done using different facial and vocal techniques.

Your Best Defense

Program Description: The best self defense is learning how to avoid potentially dangerous situations. Most violence against
young women is at the hands of someone they know. A GTW counselor will begin the workshop talking about healthy
relationships, and what young women need to know to be safe. Our self defense expert will then use hands-on teaching as she
instructs participants in how to avoid and handle dangerous situations. In this portion of the program girls will learn how their
"Attitude" can deter an attack; how their "Awareness" can prevent trouble; how to "Avoid" becoming a victim; and "Action" moves
to get out of trouble.
