Orlando NACE Scholarship 2011-2012 Program Description: The National Association of Catering Executives Orlando Chapter established a scholarship to recognize hospitality students interested in catering and events. The scholarship is part of the University of Central Florida’s Foundation. NACE History: The association was founded on June 3rd, 1958. The association, which has become the oldest and largest catering association in the world, was founded in 1958 as the Banquet Managers Guild. A look at how and why the association was founded is a discovery of the evolution of the catering industry itself. Currently, NACE has become an association of almost 3000 members in 46 chapters in the United States and Canada. NACE continues to keep current with technology to benefit its members and therefore the industry. Members of NACE have access to a vast world of resources to benefit their careers and their professional development. The association continues to become a significant voice in the hospitality industry, a voice that will continue to become more prominent as the industry as the association evolves. NACE Mission Statement: The mission of NACE is “To provide catering and event professionals superior education, networking and resources to enhance career success and deliver excellence to clients.” Awards: The award will be one (2) $1,000 paid to the scholarship winner. Presentation: The scholarship winner will be presented with a check at the NACE March meeting on March 27, 2012. Orlando NACE Scholarship Qualifications for Applicant 1. Must be enrolled at the University of Central Florida’s Rosen College of Hospitality Management. 2. Must be a junior or senior upon applying. 3. Must carry a workload of 12 hours per semester. 4. Must have and maintain a minimum overall grade point average of 3.0 on a 4-point scale. 5. Must be a paid student member of NACE, the National Association of Catering Executives.
