“All human beings... are commingled out of good and evil.”
- Robert Louis Stevenson, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
Consider Mr. Brooks (Kevin Costner); a successful businessman, a generous philanthropist and true pillar of the community. With a loving wife
(Marg Helgenberger), devoted daughter (Danielle Panabaker) and thriving business, seemingly, he has it all. But Mr. Brooks harbors a sinister secret - he is an insatiable serial killer, known as The Thumbprint Killer - and no one has ever suspected him, until now.
Earl Brooks has managed to keep his two incompatible worlds from colliding by controlling his cunning, wicked alter ego, Marshall (Academy Award ® winner William Hurt), whom only Brooks can see and hear. Neither his wife or daughter could conceive of the truth, but following a period of dormancy, Brooks’ murderous compulsion is again reignited by Marshall. However, his latest crime is witnesses by an amateur photographer (Dane
Cook) who chooses to blackmail Brooks with a bizarre demand. Suddenly Brooks finds himself trapped in the twisted agenda of an opportunistic bystander, as well as hunted by an unorthodox and tenacious investigator, Tracy Atwood (Demi Moore).
