Timeline
 Jason Currie and Lottie Dreiser’s mother meet in the cemetery and Jason
is rejected by her.
 Hagar’s brother Dan dies and she does not help ease his pain.
 Hagar does not help the baby chicks that are dying, and realizes that
Lottie might be a stronger person than her.
 Hagar marries Bram, mostly in spite of her father and Lottie.
 She found out that Matt was going to send her their mother’s shawl as a
wedding gift but changed his mind; she doesn’t go talk to him.
 Soldier, Bram’s horse, died, and Hagar kind of reached out to him.
 Marvin is born, and Hagar doesn’t think it’s “her” son.
 Hagar’s brother Matt died.
 Hagar’s father, Jason Currie died and left all of his money to the town.
 John, Hagar’s second son is born, and she feels that he will be more like a
Currie than Marvin was.
 Marvin leaves for the war and Hagar does not tell him how she feels.
 Hagar takes John and leaves Bram, actually hoping he tells her to stay,
but he doesn’t.
 Bram dies / she finds the Stone angel knocked over.
 John dies trying to show off in front of his friends.
 Hagar runs away from Marvin and Doris, trying to prove that she doesn’t
need them.
 Hagar meets Murray F. Lees; this is the only man she has ever connected
with.
 Hagar is put into the hospital and meets Elva, and they become friends.
 Hagar blesses Marvin, even though she doesn’t really believe what she
says.
