The primary focus of the program reflects the individual’s need for training in the outdoor environment. Lecture, Videotapes, Demonstrations, Skill Practice Sessions 2. Quizzes, Mid-Term Exam and NSP Final Written Certification Exam 3. Completion of the NSP Skills Performance Guidelines 4. NSP Final Practical Skill/Scenario Exam Course Attendance Policy: D R A F T Student attendance is required at all scheduled classes. Students may be dropped from the course for excessive absences of any kind. Excused absences may be granted by the course instructor for extenuating circumstances. If more than two absences occur for any reason, the status of the student will be reviewed by the faculty to determine a disposition. Course failure is likely under these circumstances. Comportment: Students are expected to conduct themselves in accordance with the professional expectations for ski patrollers at all times. Students are reminded that they are representatives of the Pats Peak Ski Patrol whenever and wherever they are involved with course-related activities. Professional conduct is essential to a successful course experience and ski patrol career. Dress and Appearance: Pats Peak Ski Patrol believes that the appearance and the conduct of its student are of supreme importance in establishing a positive climate for learning and for presenting a good example for others. Therefore, ski patrol affirms its expectations that all personnel shall be cleanly, neatly, and appropriately attired for the work to be done. Class ID # (Chapter review questions are due by 9:00pm the night before the next class) Draft 1 3 Completion of all skill guides (Pass or Fail) Failure in one skill requirement results in course failure. Students who complete the requirements stated above will be eligible to take the final exam. Score of 80% or greater meets NSP requirements to complete the skills competence portion of the program. Challenge Students: Challenge students are students who currently hold a certification in the medical field. Current license in medicine (MD, DO, nurse, or physician assistant); any level of EMT or paramedic in accordance with US DOT curriculum; previous OEC certification, provided the expired OEC certification date has not exceeded three years; or other certifications as approved by the national education director, based upon and after submission and review of appropriate curriculum materials.
