Meal Program
Monday thru Thursday, 3:00 to 4:30pm
Friday 2:30 to 4:00pm
A contribution of $1 is suggested. No eligible person will be
denied a meal if he/she does not contribute.
The program provides well-balanced, hot nutritious meals in a
warm and inviting social environment. If you have dietary
restrictions, please discuss with staff about vegetarian and kosher
options. Staff will distribute any extra meals to individuals in an
equitable manner.

Food Pantry
We are here to provide a little extra help in your time of need.
Please contact our case assistance team to schedule an
appointment, if you are receiving SSI, SSD, Medicaid or SNAP
and do not have enough food. Eligible members will receive
confidential support. Supplies are limited. You may access this
program if you experience a hardship due to renovation disruption
and meal cancellation. Please call (646) 486-4444 and ask for a
Senior Center case assistance staff.
Attention Senior Center Members! WE NEED YOU! VISIONS
has many volunteer opportunities such as class instructor, phone
receptionist, assisting in meal service and more! Please inquire
with Natasha DeLeon about how you can support your Senior
Center!
VISIONS welcomes donations to improve and expand the
programs and services offered. Every day we are accepting
donations during meal service. The donation box is on the
registration table. Your contributions are appreciated!
Please continue to spread the word about our cell phone
collection. All you need to do is donate your old, unused phones
and your Center will get the profits. All donations go towards
making your Center the best it can be! The drop box is located in

Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Food Bag Program Is Back.
Get a mixed bag of fresh, locally grown produce from NY State
and PA farmers for only $8-EXACT CHANGE ONLY. Sign up,
payment and pick up dates are as follows for in the Main Office
and pick up your food bag on Wednesday, in the Auditorium from
3pm-4:15pm.
Payment days are on September 1st, 14th, 15th, 28th and 29th. Pick
up days are on September 9th and 23rd.
Snack Bar Announcements: We will be closed for the month of
September, but we’ll be back in October!
Senior Center Council Announcement
Are you looking to get involved? Do you like event planning? Are
you a foodie? Then, the Senior Center Council needs YOU! We
are looking for committee members to assist with programs, new
member orientation, food and accessibility. Please call Yvonne at

Council Meeting is Thursday, October 15th from 1:00 to 2:00pm
in the Auditorium.
Local Duane Reade on the Northeast corner of 6th Avenue and
23rd Street has Senior Discount Days every first Tuesday of the
month with 15% off regular items and 20% off on Walgreen and
Duane Reade brand items. They also offer free blood pressure
screenings and flu shots from 8:00am to 9:00pm for blind and
visually impaired individuals.

Hold Harmless Agreements
We have a new fitness waiver agreement called a Hold Harmless
agreement. Please make sure you sign this new agreement prior
to engaging in fitness classes. If you have never taken a fitness
class and are interested in signing up please see anyone in the
main office.
VISIONS SPACE Update & Request
The lower level is open! Please see above for the current
schedule of classes in the lower level. In an effort to keep
VISIONS at Selis Manor as cleanly and inviting as possible, we
expect all participants, staff, interns, volunteers and visitors to:
Clean up after every class and put supplies, tables, chairs,
etc. exactly as you found them. Discard all garbage in the
garbage cans. Refrain from eating in all program areas.
Food is only allowed in the meal service section of the
Auditorium. Report any cleanliness issues to staff
immediately. Classes should end 15 minutes earlier so there
is enough time to clean up. Please leave yourself enough
time to use the restrooms before VISIONS closes.
We want our space to be kept at its best for you, but we need
your help!

Your safety is always our concern as the renovation project
continues please take your time when moving in the hallways. At
times our hallways become congested as people are traveling to
and from their classes. We strongly encourage everyone to use
your canes whenever possible. This will help to keep you safe as
well as everyone around you.
Please remember many classes are being held in the three
available rooms, we ask everyone to please help us maintain the
spaces by throwing away your trash, keeping the noise levels
down and also allowing other participants the time to leave the
class before entering. Please utilize the seats in the lobby area
when waiting for access-a-ride and during the times classes are
in session.
*****If you have a home health aide or a friend who accompanies
you to the program please let them know that at times they may
not be allowed to sit in the auditorium while some classes are in
session. The support groups are confidential and we have to
respect the privacy of each individual group member.
There are 6 bathrooms for public use. There are 2 bathrooms
located just off of the library, one restroom in the snack bar (Apt.
212), one on the right side of the stage, and two in the lower level
(one for men and one for women). Please note that when using
the restroom in the library/board room it is important to keep your
voices down because there are classes going on in the space.
Please be patient when waiting to use the restroom.
Remember the Snack Bar has moved upstairs to the 2nd Floor,
Apartment 212, but they will not be open in September.
Additionally, the coat rack is on the left side of the auditorium door
when you come in.

The Walking Warriors are Back this Fall!
Looking for a way to motivate yourself and others to get moving?
Want to get out and enjoy the neighborhood? Want to improve
your overall health? The first 15 people who sign up and attend
will get a talking pedometer, water bottle, breakfast voucher at
Malibu and/or travel reimbursement. Giveaways will be given to
everyone who completes the program and special prizes will also
be awarded during a special ceremony on November 17th. Grab
a pair of walking shoes, dress in comfortable clothing, and join us!
This program is open to ISC members only. Preference will be
given to those who have NOT already participated. It will run for
6 weeks every Monday and Tuesday from 9:30am-11am starting
October 5th-November 17th in the Auditorium. Mandatory
orientation and breakfast Tues, 9/29 from 10-11am. Once the
slots are filled up we will open up a waiting list for people who are

Breakfast Club, September 16th from 9:30 to10:30am. Preference
given to ISC members. Sign up mandatory. Non ISC members
are welcome to have breakfast once we determine if there is
enough food for ISC members. There is a suggested donation of

Ever wanted to learn about Improv? This interactive workshop will
