Diversity Committee Meeting Agenda September, 10 2010 11:30 a.m. – 1:00pm Location: I. Introductions Vera introduced Tennille as new co-chair. Present at Menifee: Valerie Reed, Christina Yamanaka, Elizabeth Correia- Jordan, Anjeanette Obers (Intern) Present at SJ: Tennille Lambert, Vera Stamenkovic, Willie Hamilton, Lorraine Slaterry-Farrell, Millie Baez, Jeri Siqueiros (student), Faith Nobles, Eileen Doktorski, Keith Johnson, Irma Ramos, Brandelyn Dillaway. II. Committee Charge and Membership Criteria – IRMA Irma provided the committee with shared governance information. The Diversity Committee needs to update its charge and membership. This document is part of the District’s Shared Governance document. Vera and Tennile to work on membership criteria and to send it to Faith. Valerie to work on Charge. Members to e-mail Valerie ideas and she will compile them and forward them to Faith. Faith will take info and create a draft for the next meeting for final discussion and adoption. Based on today’s discussion much emphasis on importance and significance of members being active and involved with Diversity events and projects. Following the write-up (Valerie, Tennile, Vera, Faith), Charge and Membership to be discussed and finalized at next meeting. III. Budget for Year Irma: mentioned 56% statewide statewide Diversity budget cutback. Budget for Diversity Committee for 2010-2011 is $6,ooo. IV. Tentative Calendar of Events - VERA a. Sept. 11th 2010 Hate Crime Forum – MIKE Not addressed b. March 19th, 2011 Religious Understanding Day – Interfaith Council Not addressed c. Follow-up to Willie's Question: where do we display the various plaques etc the Committee has received over the years Irma will follow up and let us know. VI. Follow up with Maria and Joanna regarding the Hemet Quilting club (to see if they can make a quilt from our old Clothesline T shirts) that we can donate to the Riverside Rape Crisis Center.
