CCES PTA NEEDS YOU! The Clemens Crossing Elementary School PTA Nominating Committee is looking for volunteers to chair several positions during the 2015-16 academic year. PTA position descriptions and contact information can be found below. Most of these positions do not require regular attendance at monthly PTA board meetings. Updates to the board can be communicated through email. We welcome anyone who would like to be involved. If you have time to help in any capacity, please contact anyone on the provided list. PTA POSITION 1st VP (Program Chair) DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES CONTACT PERSON Work closely with the PTA president to set annual priorities and goals; Represents president at events or meetings if necessary; Plans PTA social activities including Bingo Night, Family Fun Night, back to school family picnic, roller-skating night. Joanna Lake lake04@comcast.net After School Movie Coordinates the after school movie program. This includes selecting the movies, Coordinator reserving the cafeteria, communicating with the staff and parents, managing attendance, collecting money and running the movie. Amber Coleman amberrph@msn.com After School Program Coordinator Schedules classes taught by outside vendors and CCES teachers in compliance with PTA Julie Sutker Council rules. Maintains master schedule of after school classes and keeps CCES office julie@sutker.com staff and administration up to date with class schedules. Schedules classes in HCPSS EMS system. Reports to PTA on After School Program. Works with CCES staff and outside vendors to identify, coordinate, and schedule class offerings. Completes administrative tasks necessary for running an after school class (e.g. advertising, registration, processing of payments, etc.) Communications Oversees communication of PTA information to parents, teachers, and community including: creating/editing PTA communications, updating PTA bulletin board, managing website and social media content; Creativity and writing skills are great skills for this position. Community Outreach The community outreach coordinator identifies and organizes a community service Nancy Murray opportunity for CCES students. Past community outreach partners have included Food on nancymurray2@verizon.net the 15th where students brought in non-perishable food items for economically disadvantaged senior citizens and Grassroots where students donated spare change to support programs at their facility. Corresponding Secretary Sends thank you notes to all event sponsors and teachers, get well cards, birthday cards, Carolyn Benson condolence cards as necessary. CKBenson@magellanhealth.com Fall Fundraiser Oversees the school's direct donation campaign. Updates direct donation form, collects donations, updates spreadsheet and shares with membership coordinator. Organizes a fall merchandise fundraiser in the event that the direct donation campaign is not successful. Hero Day The hero day coordinator identifies a hero (e.g., firefighter, veteran, etc.) from our local or Nomi Stanton larger community and arranges for them to visit the school and conduct a presentation or paulstanton6@hotmail.com demonstration for the all CCES students. The event is typically held in May or June. Landscaping Responsible for occasional special projects around the exterior of the school, including Lisa Saula the natural habitat garden in front of the building. Contacts student groups that do service mlsaula@verizon.net (scout troops) and enlists their help in weeding and maintaining the flowerbeds and mulched areas in front of the school. Play Coordinator The play coordinator serves as a liaison between the School House Theater Arts and Jennifer Molinari, Steve Molinari parents. The coordinator works together with STA in arranging the school play, serving as joshandjasek12@gmail.com the liaison between parents and STA, and coordinating the cast party on the final night of the performance. Policy Advises the PTA on policies and legal issues and facilitates bylaw update process (bylaws are updated every three years). continued on back… OPEN Panthea Rafei pantheap@hotmail.com OPEN President Works closely with PTA Board to set annual priorities and goals, support membership growth and retention, provide support to committee chairpersons, lead monthly meetings, create calendar of events and facility reservations for those events, attend PTA events, and serve as main point of contact for teachers, staff, and community. Since 1969 the Reflections Program has inspired millions of students to reflect on a theme and create an original artwork. Each year, students in grades pre-K through 12 are recognized for bringing the theme to life through film, dance, literature, music, photography, and visual arts OPEN School Supplies In early April receive school supply list for following year from school secretary. E-mail representative from supplier and begin process for new school supply packages. Kick off online ordering and advertise in Cougar Comments. In August, coordinate arrival of packs for distribution at Open House in late August. Recruits volunteers. Events are scheduled both during the school day and evenings. This is a great position for two people to co-chair. Creates a spreadsheet of who volunteers for which committee at the beginning of the year, answers questions about volunteer opportunities within the PTA and coordinates the assembly of the first day folders.
