These students learned about and experienced careers in broadcasting by working with our news department under the supervision of our Special Projects Manager. From September 30, 2012 though October 4, 2013, a group of Loyola University Students shadowed Newsroom Photographers to observe communication between Photographers and Reporters as well as the finer points of news photography. College student hired for summer internship during July 3, 2013 to August 18, 2013 in the Digital News Department as a Social Media intern. Duties include development of a web app, social media experimentation and engagement, optimization of all mobile platforms and web production (writing, shooting, editing) under the supervision of the Manager of News and Operations. On November 20, 2013, the President and GM participated as a panelist on the topic of “Media” held by the Revius Ortique Leadership Institute. The objective of the session was to prepare class participants for future leadership roles in Media. NorthShore Bureau Chief conducted in a class on October 2, 2013 designed to teach future Public Information Officers about how media really works. Special Projects Manager in News served as judge and volunteer organizer for Tom Bell Silver Scribe competition for high school journalists, organized by Press Club of New Orleans and Loyola University New Orleans on 02/23/12 On November 5, 2013, the Newsroom Special Projects Manager and Promotions Manager attended the Networking Night at Loyola University. They spoke to students about available entry level opportunities and careers in broadcasting. The President and General Manager participated on October 24, 2013 on “The Future of News” panel at the LSU Manship School of Mass Communication. The purpose of the panel was to educate university students about the evolving digital media landscape and learn how to cope with rapidly changing technology.
