(There will be a Grad Information Meeting for Parents in late September to go over Post-secondary
planning, grad ceremonies and banquet, and introduce SAFE Grad.)
Some information you could explore prior to that evening is listed below.
College Applications: If you meet the general requirements for the preferred program you can apply. Applications are
on a first come- first accepted format. The earlier you apply in your grade 12 year the better, to avoid a waiting list.
Universities: Recommend early applic. Before Christmas and residence as well. In order to be considered for entrance
awards, applications must be in no later than:

SCHOLARSHIPS, BURSARIES AND AWARDS
Scholarships are awarded to students to assist with the cost of university, college or other post-secondary training. The
criteria for scholarships will differ and may include academic achievements, community involvement, volunteer work,
extra-curricular activities, personal interests, athleticism, as well as, the program they plan to commence leading to their
future career.
Bursaries are awards that are given to students with financial need being a major factor in the criteria for the award.
Some tips: Students must be prepared to do some research to find scholarships that meet their unique situation. There
are so many different scholarships available but the students need to meet the challenge and dedicate their time to
discover these scholarships. Look through scholarship websites, check which awards are available from the university
or college they plan to attend, inquire about scholarship programs. Activity groups such as 4-H or minor hockey have
scholarships, inquire within the groups you are involved. Be prepared to do some work!! This may involve preparing
lengthy applications, asking for reference letters, and writing essays. Be involved with school, volunteer and
community organizations. Keep a detailed list of all activities and VOLUNTEERISM, all of these suggestions will assist
you in your search for Scholarships.
This is only a summary of some awards available to students. Each post-secondary institution has a
list of awards and bursaries for their own institution. Once you have decided on a college,
university, technical school, or private institution, be sure to get a list of their entrance
awards. Remember that these awards have deadlines, so don't wait too long to become informed.

Fine Arts Career Scholarship high school graduate applicants must plan on attending a post-secondary education course
at a recognized institution for the school year the scholarship is awarded. Applicants will be selected on a combination
of: a sample of their work (musical ability, visual art etc.), academic standing and a commitment to their area of study.
Applicants should provide two written references with their application.
Criteria: The applicant must be: A graduate from a high school within the boundaries of the municipalities of Dufferin,
Grey, Thompson or Roland. A permanent resident of the area encompassed by the municipalities as listed, who is
planning on post-secondary fine arts training.

The recipients of these scholarship awards must have participated in the sport of hockey (player, official, coach) and will

Students must be in their second last or last year of post-secondary training in a high demand profession in the medical
field (nursing, lab/x-ray, rehab, pharmacy, etc). This is a return of service agreement whereas you agree to work for the
RHA for one year if you receive the $2,000 scholarship (you can receive two years of scholarship). Further information

The Academy of Broadcasting Corporation is located at Polo Park in Winnipeg and they offer Radio/TV Broadcaster

Awards of $500
Awarded on the basis of character, as determined by essays that are submitted. Scholarships are intended for our future
leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. This award is available to high school seniors and all students
attending a post secondary educational facility.

AGRICULTURE AND FOOD SCIENCES CENTENNIAL ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship will be awarded to Manitoba high school students who plan to enter the Faculty of Agricultural and
Food Sciences at The University of Manitoba. Eligible students may enter either the two-year Diploma in Agriculture
program or the four-year Bachelor of Science degree program. Students entering the degree program must register for a
specific set of courses in University 1 as determined by the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences and as outlined in
the university STARTbook. Applicant must have a minimum average of 75%, provide a résumé, and briefly outline their
vision for rural Manitoba and their career goals.

The Manitoba Canola Growers Scholarship Program is available to Manitoba high school students who are enrolled in
their final year of high school and eligible to graduate in 2014. Those eligible for a scholarship must be from a farm that
is a member of the Manitoba Canola Growers Association and must be planning to enroll at a Canadian post-secondary
institution. The scholarship must be used in the 2 years following high school graduation. Application requirements:
