Mark Tischler presented an overview of activities in flight control at
the US Army Aeroflightdynamics Directorate (Moffett Field, CA). A key
current project covered was flight control analysis and testing of the
UH-60MU control laws using the RASCAL in-flight simulator. The new UIH60MU fly-by-wire system will feature a modelling following multi-mode
control law. In a second effort, researchers are preparing for a summer
simulation study in the VMS to study minimum stability margin
requirements and the effects on handling-qualities. A final project has
developed and flight test an external load stabilization system
(passive) that has increased the flight envelop from 60kts to 110kts.
