Forever/Megahertz Internship Program
The stations hosted internships for 2 students May 2012 thru August 2012, 8 students
from August 2012 thru December 2012 and 5 students January 2013 thru April 2013.

Description of the Internship Program: The Pennsylvania State University’s College of
Communications is the largest ACEJMC accredited undergraduate communications
program in the country. Forever Broadcasting has a long standing relationship with the
College of Communications to help prepare students to take their place in society as
active, critical and engaged media professionals. We provide Internship opportunities to
a minimum of 10 students per year. We work with the College to design a program that
allows students to earn college credit for hands on experience at the Radio Stations.
The Internships are designed to meet the needs of the Radio Stations and academic
requirements of the University. Each Internship is uniquely designed. Students work
with Program Directors, Business Manager, Chief Engineer, Sales Manager and the
General Manager to fulfill their Internship.
Each semester we post opportunities with the University for On-air, Sales, All Station
and Technical Internships. For this period we had internships as per the following:

WBUS (FM), WMAJ (FM), WFGE (FM), openings for morning show assistant,
remote broadcast, public service announcements, emergency preparedness,
promotional events, automation systems. Position open several days to all week
until it ends.

WQWK, WRSC (FM), WRSC students participated for reporting internship for
high school and college football games, assistant producer, tailgate shows
technical set up, studio assistant.
All Station Internship – At Forever Broadcasting you’ll be strengthening your knowledge
of how the Radio Medium works. You will get an understanding of how advertising,
media, programming and radio promotions works. You’ll be shown the selling skills and
marketing techniques as you develop from your day-to-day internship. You’ll also with
the Programming Directors / Programming team with on air assistance, board operator
and promotions assistance.
Radio Station Group Tours
We routinely give group tours of our facility at 2551 Park Center Blvd., State College, to
organizations such as Boy and Girl Scouts, elementary and high school groups, church
groups and other similar groups. The tours provide an introduction to the Radio
Broadcasting Industry and are offered for free. A typical tour includes information on
the history of Radio and our stations. We explain and demonstrate the broadcasting
equipment used to transmit programming from the studio to the transmitter site, we
explain the studio equipment and how it functions. An introduction and hands on
recording of commercial production is demonstrated. An explanation of all positions
and responsibility of station personnel is also given. We discuss our station formats,
audience and coverage area. The tours are given by station management in
programming and sales and our production / programming team. The tours are tailored
to meet the goals of the specific groups.
We gave a tour to Brownie Troop 40226 on 4/13/2012. The Troup leader was Jen
Gooch the tour was given by WFGE Afternoon Host, Jeff Hunt; Production Director
Lucas Bubb and WBUS Program Director, Tony Ricciardi.
We gave a tour to the Lark Theatre Studio on 2/15/2013. The tour was given by Lauren
Burke.
We gave a tour to Will Kauffman family on 2/18/2013. The tour was given by WFGE
Program Director Chris Prospero.

Participation in Educational Events
On April 17, 2012 Jerry Valeri, Program Director of WMAJ hosted Pennsylvania State
University student Carolyn Harpster. Carolyn shadowed Jerry from 5:30AM to 9:45AM
in studio of WMAJ. This experience helped her complete her required research for her
Comm 260W Class.
On October 2, 2012 Scott Cohagan, General Manager and Dave Davies, Vice
President/General Manager- Altoona spoke to students at The Pennsylvania State
University Altoona Campus about the radio broadcasting industry. Topics covered the
medium of Radio broadcasting, various positions/responsibilities at the radio stations
and career/internship opportunities. Director of Career Services at Penn State
University Altoona was Rebecca Maguda.
On October 10, 2012, Kerby Confer, Partner/Member of Forever Broadcasting, spoke to
The Pennsylvania State University Communications class about the radio broadcasting
industry and the career and advancement opportunities that exist. The class Instructor
was Tom Yourchak.
On March 12, 2013, Scott Cohagan, General Manager was a guest panelist at the
annual Advanced Resume Workshop for students from the College of Communications
at The Pennsylvania State University. Scott met with students individually to discuss
the respective student’s resume and cover letter. The Workshop was part hosted by
Robert P. Martin, Assistant Dean for Internships and Career Placement.
On March 14, 2013, Scott Cohagan, General Manager spoke to The Pennsylvania State
University Communications class about the radio broadcasting industry. Topics
covered the medium of Radio broadcasting, various positions/responsibilities at the
radio stations and career/internship opportunities. It was followed by a question and
answer session. The class Instructor was Rob Schmidt.
On March 27, 2013, Scott Cohagan, General Manager and Chris Prospero, Program
Director of WFGE hosted Pennsylvania State University student Allye Wilson. Allye
was given a tour and a workshop of commercial and promo production. This
experience helped her complete her internship with The Penn Stater and The Nittany
Lion Inn for class HRM495A.
Establishment of Training Programs for Station Personnel
The Station’s Account Executives have been routinely training on-line with the Radio
Advertising Bureau. During this period, seven Account Executives & one Intern have
earned Radio Marketing Professional Certifications (RMP) from the Radio Advertising
Bureau. These are education/instructional courses designed to improve our sales team.

Selling). These are education/instructional courses are designed to improve our sales
team.
Account Executives are provided with daily group sales meetings to further their

On April 10, 2012 Brian Stimely Graphic Artist/Sales Assistant attended “The Infinite
Dial 2012: Navigating Digital Platforms.” This webinar provided insights about
consumer use of media, technology and digital platforms from Arbitron and Edison
Research.
On May 3, 2012 Robert Taylor, Chief Engineer attended The Pennsylvania Association
of Broadcasters “Chief Operator Webinar.” The webinar was presented by Jack Layton.

This webinar will provided a tutorial for the non-technical chief operator on required
duties and tasks, General Managers and on-site staff with an overview of qualifications
to consider when appointing a person to this critical position.
On June 5, 2012 Scott Cohagan, General Manager attended The Pennsylvania
Association of Broadcasters “Navigating the FCC’s Equal Employment Opportunity
Rules.” The webinar was presented by David Oxenford, Wilkinson Barker Knauer LLP.
The webinar provided a timely review for staff regarding FCC rules, outreach required,
recordkeeping, FCC compliance efforts etc.
On October 11, 2012, Robin Binder Heath, Esq. conducted training to management
staff to insure equal employment opportunity and preventing discrimination. In
attendance were the General Manager, the General Sales Manager, the Local Sales
Manager and three Program Directors.
On November 29, 2012 Robert Taylor, Chief Engineer attended The Pennsylvania
Association of Broadcasters “Care and Feeding your Public File Webcast.” The webinar
was presented by David Oxenford, Wilkinson Barker Knauer LLP. The webinar detailed
the obligations for station’s public files, what documents need to be in the file, how long
must they be retained, what are the usual trouble spots for broadcasters, all these
topics and more were discussed in the webinar.
Forever Broadcasting supports and has a commitment to the principals of equal
employment opportunity and intends to provide a work environment free from unlawful
discrimination of any kind. In keeping with this commitment, all new employees are put
through Sexual Harassment training as well as every employee annually is trained.
During this period, the annual training was provided on 12/07/2012 and 12/10/12. The
training was provided by the Business Manager and General Manager.
Participation in Scholarship Program
Kerby Confer, Partner/Member of Forever Broadcasting, has financially pledged to the
Robert K. Zimmerman Scholarship Fund at The Pennsylvania State University College
of Communications for deserving Communication Majors.
