Publication Date June 13, 2006 -6- Release Overview June 2006 C05-1963/395189.1 – Resale TLS CoS VZ West Jurisdiction: Verizon-West CR Type: New Product Description: The purpose of this initiative is to introduce two new classes of service/quality of service over the TLS architecture/platform. Transparent LAN Services (TLS) are high speed fiber-based data services which use a shared fiber network to allow for the interconnection of Local Area Networks (LANs). TLS CoS delivers high speed data service to the interface at speeds of 100 Mbps and 1000Mbps from the customer’s LAN to the shared network. TLS CoS is available to customers whose serving central office is a TLS equipped central office and is located within the maximum allowable range of the serving central office. These new classes offered for TLS CoS are Real-time (RT) and Priority Data (PD). The Real-time (RT) service class is designed for customers requiring low delay for some of their traffic. This would be an ideal service class for customers having packet voice (e.g. VoIP) traffic running over their Ethernet network. This class is offered for both Ethernet Multipoint Service (EMS) and Ethernet Relay Service (ERS) customers. Priority Data (PD) service class is designed for customers requiring a bandwidth guarantee for their point-to-point Ethernet Virtual Connection (EVC), but do not require low delay. This would be an ideal service class for customers having a Committed Information Rate type requirement. This class is only offered for ERS customers.
