Persuasive Speech: Audience Assessment
Specific Goal: My audience will know the advantage of owning a Subaru if they live in Utah. Hopefully after this speech my audience will go out and get a Subaru in the future.
Type of Claim: This is a claim of facts.
Ethos: Primary Ethos: I have owned 7 cars and been working on cars since I was 16. a) Competence: Since 16 I’ve been changing tires, oil and even complete engine swap. I have owned 7 cars since 16 years old.
b) Fairness : I will explain other cars and how they work so the audience will have a little more knowledge of what I know.
Secondary Ethos : How many authoritative references will you cite out loud in your speech? 3
Audience Assessment: Most of my audience members will probably have an attitude toward my proposition that is highly favorable.
Adaptation to Audience Attitude : a. Common ground : I will present information on the opposing side as well as my side. b. Latitude of acceptance : I know that most of my audience will understand that having an all wheel drive car is really important if you live in Utah.
Baby Steps : By explaining the importance of driving safe in the snow.

Hook: Has this ever happen to you? You wake up got ready ate breakfast then when you walked outside you see this. (A picture of a car with lots of snow on it) After 20 minutes of brushing the snow off your car, you end up getting stuck trying to leave the driveway. Yes, this had happen to me in several occasions. I have owned 7 cars since the age of 16 and all of the cars I’ve owned gave me this issue.
So after hearing so many great things about Subaru from my brother-in-law, I decided to go out and get one. It was the best decision I’ve made in a long while.
