Course Number: ENFE 4015
Course Title
: Management in Nursing
Identification and application of principles of management in planning
and providing nursing care.
3.
Purpose:
The purpose of this course is to prepare each student with the
knowledge and skills in nursing management. Nursing management seen as a
process which takes place within a health care organization accomplishing
goals and specific purposes through the use of interpersonal skills and
technical aspects. Modern organization theory and organizational behavior is
the framework for the study of nursing service administration, management
and leadership.
4. Course Goals:
a.
Integrate concepts from the system theory, psychology, mathematics and
the humanities as a basis for understanding the changing art and science
of management and its application to the evolving art and science of
nursing.

b. Demonstrate knowledge of organization and management theory and its
relationship to health agency management and nursing care delivery
systems and methods.

Value the management process as a means for promoting excellence in
nursing services.
d. Examine determinants of human behavior in organizations and the
leadership role of the nursing manager.

Value research on nursing management and its application.
Requirements:
All Students are expected to:
a. come to class as established and timely.
b. be prepared for class by doing the assigned readings previous to the
class meetings.
c. bring the textbook to class and perform the requested assignments on
a timely basis.
d. take quizzes and tests on assigned days.
e. discuss the tests with the professor.
f.
come to class prepared to discuss, analyze, apply, summarize and
participate with peer groups.
g. obtain a passing grade to receive credit for the course.
