JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Senior Producer Responsible to: Executive Producer Responsible for: Broadcast and New Media Programme Manager, Digital Productions Producer, Production Administrator and project staff. External contacts: Artists, Promoters, Producers, and others where appropriate. Salary: £38,500 p.a. MAIN PURPOSE OF POSITION To support the Executive Producer and Artistic Director to research, develop, produce and deliver a high profile, innovative and dynamic performing arts programme for the Roundhouse The Senior Producer is a member of the Senior Management with responsibility for managing the Broadcast and New Media team, including Roundhouse Digital Productions and, with the Executive Producer, lead the artistic & strategic policy development around digital opportunities. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performing Arts Programme With the Executive Producer and Artistic Director, to develop contacts with artists, producers, promoters and other collaborators. To develop and produce in-house performing arts productions and commissions, as agreed with the Executive Producer. To lead produce all in-coming performing arts shows (excluding circus). To produce the annual spoken word festival at the Roundhouse. With the Executive Producer, Circus Producer and Performing Arts Programme Producer, to develop and programme an exciting, and coherent programme of performing arts activity at the Roundhouse, and ensure exceptional opportunities for young people to participate and perform. To lead on programming the Studio Theatre, in collaboration with colleagues across all artforms. To support the development of performing Roundhouse artists. To represent the Roundhouse producing team at festivals and theatre events both nationally and internationally. To proactively seek to provide a positive, supportive and efficient service to all incoming artists/companies/hirers and other collaborators. To maintain good liaison and effective communication of information from incoming artists and to ensure the smooth running of all performing arts events. To oversee the production of detailed and accurate show information for the organisation, on all performing arts events. To encourage and contract Artists performing at the Roundhouse to work with young people, for example – the coaching of young actors, dancers and poets, giving radio and TV interviews, live streaming and the giving of workshops and master classes. Broadcast & New Media To be responsible for the ongoing development of Roundhouse creative digital and online content. To work across the creative team to develop exceptional online and digital creative opportunities for artists and young people. To facilitate opportunities for experimental artistic performance through the use of cutting edge technology. To oversee the delivery of an engaging and dynamic creative programme for young people in broadcast and new media Administration and Finance To be responsible for effective administrative and financial management systems, to ensure the efficient running of the performing arts produced programme, and the work of the broadcast and new media team. To manage artistic programme contracts. With the Finance Director, to oversee all areas of finance relating to the broadcast & new media and performing arts produced programme, including providing financial reports when required. With the Artistic Director/CEO, to set appropriate financial targets and manage budgets in order to achieve these. To optimise profits through effective cost management and negotiating improved deals with suppliers and service providers. To represent the performing arts and Broadcast and New Media teams at management meetings and be the main point of contact for these teams with regards to all internal matters. Marketing and Communication To work with the Roundhouse’s Marketing and Press team on the delivery of marketing and press campaigns for the performing arts programme. To supply up to date information to the Marketing team for use on all marketing and press materials. To monitor ticket sales and ensure that all holds are correct and released as necessary. Fundraising To work with the development team, to raise funding for the performing arts programme from the public sector, corporate sponsors, individuals and campaigns. Support the development team with the completion of funding applications and interim reports for Arts Council and other funders. People Management and development Ensure all incoming artists to the performing arts programme have the right to work in the UK. To recruit, lead, motivate and manage across the Broadcast and New Media, Digital Productions and producing function and identify and implement opportunities for their development and performance improvement. Consequently, this information will be periodically reviewed, revised and updated in consultation with the post holder to reflect appropriate changes PERSON SPECIFICATION Essential Proven arts management experience Proven experience of producing middle and large scale performing arts shows Experience of programming and promoting performing arts activities Interest in opportunities for digital developments in the arts Excellent communications and presentation skills in person and in writing and experience of leading a team and function. A commitment to and enthusiasm for encouraging participation in the performing arts amongst young people Excellent people management skills Experience/knowledge of working on projects with young people Experience of working in a collaborative manner to achieve the required outcomes Experience of negotiating and contracting artists and companies Experience of strategic planning in a cultural context Excellent financial and budget management Excellent administration and IT skills Excellent teamworking and the ability to communicate across departments at the Roundhouse Ability to understand a wide portfolio of digital products Desirable Experience of new media in the cultural sector Experience of writing funding applications Experience of report writing Understanding and knowledge of marketing, press and PR Ability to work within challenging environments and with people from diverse backgrounds Conditions Contract: Fixed Term – Maternity Cover Hours: 40 hours per week Annual Leave: The annual leave year runs from April to March, and you will be entitled to 25 days pro rata per annum plus bank holidays. Notice Period: 2 months
