Orientation
Front
With the phone closed, position it with the ribbed-finish half facing upwards and the
hinge edge along the top.
Starting at the very top of the phone and coming towards you is a small rectangular
area with a circular covered hole in the top half. This is smooth to touch and is where
the lens of the inbuilt camera is situated. Immediately below this lens is a hidden
multipurpose indicator which will glow red to indicate Battery level low or charging and
green for New Message or Missed Call. Note that this multipurpose indicator will only
be visible to you when in use.
Back
Turn the phone over with the hinge at the top furthest away from you. The battery
cover forms the majority of the back and has two horizontal ridges near the top to aid
removal. Removing this gives access to the rechargeable battery bay and the SIM card
tray. Immediately above the battery cover on the left is the slightly concave SOS
emergency button. To the right of this button is a circle of tiny holes, underneath
which is the internal loudspeaker.
2
Left edge
On the left edge near the hinge end are two black buttons. The top one is a switch
marked with a silver "+" (Up) symbol and the lower one is a switch marked with a silver
"-" (Down) symbol. These are the call volume up and call volume down buttons.
Right edge
On the right edge near the hinge end are two small sockets. The top rectangular one is
the micro USB socket used to charge the phone from the charger lead. The lower,
round earpiece socket is for the supplied earphones, which must be connected when
operating the FM radio function.
Bottom edge
On the bottom edge of the phone are two very small holes, which are centrally
positioned, that can be used to fit the neck strap. With the battery cover (located on
bottom of phone) removed, the neck strap cord should be located around the internal
lug to secure it in place before the cover is replaced. On either side of these holes, and
towards the sides of the phone, are the recesses for contacts which enable the phone
to be charged when sitting in the charging cradle provided.
The open phone
Open the phone by lifting the bottom edge of the front cover upwards. Position the
phone on its back with the top half containing the display furthest away from you and
the bottom half with the buttons nearest to you.
Centrally located above the display is a small rectangular slot, which enables you to
hear the loudspeaker. To the left and right of this hole are two small bumpers which
protect the phone when closing the lid. Immediately below this hole is a flat dark
surface, which is the colour display screen.
Please note: a protective transparent cover will be fitted over the display when you
first receive the phone, which can easily be peeled off before use.
On the lower half of the phone you will find seven rows of buttons. The first is a row of
three long rectangular black buttons. The left and right hand buttons have horizontal
white lines across their centres. These two buttons are used to select options in
accordance with the changeable prompts shown at the bottom of the display. They are
often referred to as "soft" buttons. The third, centrally located button is used to operate
the camera and has a camera symbol printed on it.
The next row has three large black buttons. The left button has a horizontal phone
symbol in green and this is the OK or Call button. The button on the right has a red
horizontal phone symbol with a red line (underneath the symbol). The button has a
number of functions and is the end call, cancel and reject call button. This button is
also used to turn the phone on and off. The middle button, covering two switches, has
a white arrowhead pointing up on the top half and a white arrowhead pointing down on
3
the bottom half. This scroll rocker button enables you to scroll up and down through
lists or menu options.
The next row has four square black buttons. The first three from left to right are
labelled A, B and C and are the dedicated speed dial buttons. The final button on the
right, with a closed envelope symbol on it, is the Message button, which provides
quick access to the messaging options.
The final four rows of buttons form the number keypad. The first row has 1, 2, 3 the
second row 4, 5, 6 and the third row 7, 8, 9. The bottom row has star, 0 and hash. The
5 button has two tactile markers. The first three rows also have the letters of the
alphabet distributed over these number buttons in the standard allocation as follows:
2 is A, B, C; 3 is D, E, F; 4 is G, H, I; 5 is J, K, L; 6 is M, N, O; 7 is P, Q, R, S; 8 is T, U,
V and 9 is W, X, Y, Z. These letters are used to enter names against the numbers that
you store in your phonebook and also to create SMS text messages.
Note: between the 0 and the hash keys is a small hole in the case which allows
speech to reach the microphone inside.
Display
When the phone is switched on the main display will show some or all of a series of
small graphic status symbols along the top based on the current status and settings on
the phone, they are:
 Signal strength - a series of up to five white vertical bars of increasing height.
These will vary in number with network coverage - more bars equal better coverage.
A large red "X" above a line of dots indicates insufficient signal strength.
 Ring/vibrate - a combination of diagonal lines and a musical note symbol indicates
that ring and vibrate for incoming call indication has been selected. Ring tone only
will just show the note and vibrate only will just show a square of diagonal lines.
Silent mode is indicated by a single diagonal line through the musical note.
 Headset - A headphone symbol will appear if the headset is connected.
 Bluetooth - A double diamond shaped symbol in an oval will be seen when the
Bluetooth mode is activated. If this is invisible to others it will be cross hatched with
a series of horizontal lines. When a Bluetooth headset or other device is connected,
a "V" in a circle will appear over the Bluetooth symbol.
 Alarm - a bell indicates that the alarm has been activated.
 Missed calls - shows as an angled telephone symbol with an exclamation mark
and indicates you have missed or selected to reject a call. Missed calls will also
show in the main display, just after they happen, as an angled telephone in a box
and the number of missed calls.
 Forwarded calls - an angled telephone symbol with an arrow pointing downwards
and to the right shows that call forwarding has been activated.
 New text message - a closed envelope symbol indicates there is a new unread text
message.
4
 New voice message - a symbol indicating a cassette tape shows a new voice
message is waiting.
 Roam - the letter R inside a triangle will appear if you travel abroad to advise you
that you are "roaming" on another network. Please telephone your network provider
before you travel to ensure your network operator has enabled this service for your
account.
 Battery charge level - in the top right hand corner. It consists of a small battery
shaped graphic containing vertical black lines separated by white. The more black
lines the fuller the charge, with four black lines indicating full charge.
A series of information can be shown in the middle of the display. This can include the
name of the network provider, the date and time. What is shown can be changed
within the settings.
Below this and at the very bottom of the display are the function options. When in
home screen mode, the left option is Menu and the right option is Name (phonebook).
These options will change depending on which setting you have entered, but are still
controlled by the left and right soft buttons.
Getting started
SIM card
Insert/remove the SIM card
Remove the battery cover, ensuring the phone is switched off. Hold the phone face
down in one hand with the flip screen closed and the back of the phone facing you.
Using your other hand, locate the two recessed indentations near the top edge of the
cover on the back of the phone. With your thumb pushing in on these slide the cover
down toward the bottom of the case and lift the cover up and away.
With the back facing you and the hinge furthest away from you, the SIM-card slot is
located in the top right corner of the battery bay and is accessible when the battery is
removed.
With the brass coloured contacts of the SIM Card facing down and the cut off corner of
the SIM-card positioned on the bottom right, slide the SIM-card into the SIM-card slot
under the metal bridge piece, making sure it is pushed as far as it will go.
To remove the SIM card, push down with your thumb on the top of the SIM and ease it
towards you until it comes out.
Re-insert the battery with the three battery contacts at the top left of the battery being
inserted first. Replace the battery cover by placing it over the open back of the phone
with the lugs locating in the recesses and sliding it up from the bottom until it clicks in
to place.
5
SIM - Enter PIN
This function has not been activated with the SIM card originally supplied with the
phone.
If it is displayed on screen when you switch the phone on, enter the 4-digit number that
will come with your SIM card paperwork. As you enter the number the display will show
stars instead of numbers.
Warning - if you enter the PIN number wrong three times then the phone will lock
completely and you will have to contact your Network operator for an unlock code.
If there is no SIM card in the phone the display will show a single small square and an
arrow pointing down and the switch on sequence will stop.
Please note: if you press the green call button with no SIM card in the phone, it will
dial the emergency services.
Memory card
The Doro 612 has the facility to use removable Micro SD memory cards to store
pictures, sound and videos captured by the phone. A Micro SD card is not supplied
with the phone and must be purchased separately if required.
Insert/remove the memory card
First, remove the battery cover as described in the previous section and remove the
battery using a thumb nail under the bottom edge.
With the back facing you and the hinge furthest away from you, the memory card slot
is located in the top left corner of the battery bay and is accessible only when the
battery is removed.
With the brass coloured contacts of the Micro SD Card facing downwards on the left
and the notched cut out on the top left, slide the card into the memory card slot moving
it from right to left making sure it is pushed as far as it will go.
To remove the memory card, push down on it using your thumb and slide it from left to
right.
Re-insert the battery with the three battery contacts at the top left of the battery being
inserted first. Replace the battery cover by placing it over the open back of the phone
and sliding it up from the bottom until it clicks in place.
Battery
Battery insertion
Remove the battery cover, ensuring the phone is switched off. Hold the phone face
down in one hand with the flip screen closed and the back of the phone facing you.
6
Locate the two indentations on the back cover and with your thumb pushing in on
these slide the cover down toward the bottom of the case and lift the cover up and
away.
Place the phone face down on a flat surface, with the battery cover removed and the
battery bay closest to you. The flat, almost square battery has three brass coloured
contacts and two locating lugs at the top end. Hold the battery so that you insert the
battery into the bay, with the brass contacts positioned at the top left, and then press
the battery flat into the bay. (The battery has a white side with writing on it and this side
should face upwards).
Replace the battery cover by placing it over the open back of the phone and slide it up
from the bottom until it clicks in place.
Battery removal
Locate the two recessed indentations on the left and right hand side of the battery near
the bottom edge. With a finger and/or thumb nail under the two small lugs pull the
battery up and out of the battery compartment.
Charging the battery
When charging the battery for the first time, it is recommended that you charge it for at
least three hours. Note, however, that the full battery capacity will not be reached until
it has been charged three or four times.
The charger that is supplied with the phone consists of a three-pin charger plug and a
length of cable with a micro USB connector on the end to plug into the phone. It is
important that this connector is plugged in the correct way into the phone or desk stand
to prevent damage. Note that this connector has a printed Doro logo and two tactile
lines on the upper surface as well as the top of a triangular moulding nearest to the
metal connections. Plug this connector into the socket on the right edge of the phone.
Finally plug the three-pin charging unit into a mains socket and switch on.
When you start charging, the display will show a large rectangular battery symbol,
which will appear to be filling from right to left and a red LED will flash every three
seconds on the front of the phone. If the phone is switched on when charging it will
also give an audible beep and a two-pin plug symbol will momentarily appear on the
display when you start charging. When the charging lead is removed the same symbol
with a diagonal line through it will momentarily appear. With the phone turned on, a
small filling battery symbol will appear in the top right corner of the screen through the
duration of charging.
Instead of plugging the charger directly in to the phone it is possible to place the closed
phone into the supplied charging cradle with the front cover facing towards you. Plug
the charger lead connector in to the socket on the back of this cradle.
7
The battery can only be charged in the phone and if it is totally flat it may take a few
minutes of charge before it shows evidence of charging.
If you are not going to use the mobile phone for more than a month, it is recommended
that you remove the rechargeable battery from the phone and store it safely.
Adding credit to your phone
If you use the supplied SIM card and top up card you can add credit or top up your
phone in a number of ways. Please note that if you use a different SIM card then you
will need to refer to their terms and conditions for how to add credit. You will need to
add credit to be able to make any calls, you will however, be able to receive incoming
calls.
Using the top up card
Within the plastic wallet that contains the SIM card is another plastic card. This card is
linked to the SIM card and has the telephone number of the SIM card printed on it. You
can take this card and present it in a shop that has a green top up sign and ask for an
amount to be added your phone.
Calling the network provider
Simply dial 150 from your phone and follow the instructions. Alternatively, you can call
from another phone on 0845 412 5000 but you will need to have your mobile phone
number to hand.
Turning the phone on and off
Press and hold down the power on/off/end call button with the red telephone symbol
for a few seconds, until the display and the keyboard backlight come on and you hear
a series of audio tones. Switch on is complete when the Doro graphic animations on
the display stop and the display shows the time. It can also show the name of the
network provider if a SIM card is fitted and if the standby display has been set to
include this.
To turn the phone off, press and hold the same power on/off/end call button. You will
hear a beep and then be prompted on the screen with a large question mark and
“POWER OFF” to confirm that you want to turn the phone off. Press the left soft
button for “Yes” (or right soft button for “No”). You will then hear the turning off
series of tones and the screen shows a Doro logo on the display which then goes
blank.
Initial set-up
When you first turn on your phone on you will be asked whether you want to “Run Start
up wizard?”. This provides you with the opportunity to choose your key settings
immediately. Select No to skip or Yes to proceed. You will then be asked if you want to
change the following settings; “Language”, “Time & Date”, “Ring tone”, “Ring volume”,
8
“Text size” and “Theme”. Select “Yes” to amend these setting, and “No” to skip past
the option.
Using the product
Making and receiving phone calls
There are three ways to dial a number and make a phone call. An SOS emergency

a green handset on it. The display will show a telephone handset symbol with an
animated arrow pointing away from it. It will also show the number you are dialling at
the bottom of the display. Remember to use the full STD code. If you are dialling from
outside the UK then add a plus + symbol for international dialling by pressing the star
button on the number keypad twice quickly then add the international dialling code for
the country you are dialling. E.g. +33 to call a number in France or +44 to call the UK
from abroad. (Remember to miss out the leading zero from the telephone number).
Press the end call button to finish or cancel a call. The duration of the call will be
momentarily displayed on the screen.
When you enter the phone number directly you will be given the option to save this
number in the phonebook. To do this respond to the “Save” prompt in the bottom left of
the display by pushing the left soft button on the top row. This will then display “Add
New” and using the central arrowed rocker button you should scroll to “Mobile”,
“Home” or “Office” number and select OK. You will then be taken to a screen where
the cursor is prompting you to enter a name alongside an icon of a person’s head.
Using the letters on the keypad enter the name. E.g. to enter SUE press the 7 key four
times for the S, then the 8 key twice for the U and finally the 3 key twice for the E. (Use
the right button on the top row to "Clear" if you make a mistake). Press “Save” (left
soft button) to save this name and number and you will then be taken back to where
you originally entered the number.
Speed dial
The phone has three dedicated Speed dial buttons labelled A, B and C on the third row
below the display. It is also possible to store Speed dials against the nine number
buttons 2 through to 9 and 0. Please see the section titled Storing Speed dial
numbers for information on how to do this. To dial any stored Speed dial number
press and hold down one of these nine Speed dial buttons or the dedicated A, B, C
buttons. The name of the contact you are dialling will appear on the display while the
phone dials that number. If no speed dial number has been stored against a particular
number then a red circle with a white cross and “No speed dial” will be displayed.
9
Storing Speed dial numbers

Press OK. Scroll down to “Calls” and press OK. Scroll down to “Speed Dial” and press
OK. The list of all 12 speed dial numbers with then be displayed with a name or the
word “Empty” alongside it and from this list select an empty one you want to set and

reached the name you want to set against that speed dial number.
Please note: To add a speed dial number, you must select from one of your stored
phonebook contacts, as it is not possible to manually enter a phone number using the
number keypad at this stage.
You can check the numbers you have stored at any time by following the process
above to view the stored speed dials. It is also possible to edit or delete your speed
dial selection by selecting Options when on a particular entry.
Memory dial from Phonebook
Pressing the right soft button underneath the display, which shows “name”, will take
you directly to the list of numbers in the Phonebook. It is now possible for you to scroll
through all the entries stored alphabetically in the phonebook using the central rocker
switch. When you reach the one you require, press the left soft button with “Call”
above it, to dial the number. Note, when scrolling the numbers, a display background
will move down to highlight each number. The ICE (In Case of Emergency) details will
always be the first entry shown.
To exit the Phonebook press back.
Storing Phonebook memory numbers
From the standby screen, press the left soft button, with “Menu” above it. This will
take you to the first option which will be the Phonebook icon. Press OK to take you into
the Phonebook. The top line in the phonebook will read “New Contact” and this should
be selected by pressing the “Add” button. The display will then show “Name” at the top
of with the cursor flashing alongside a small icon of a head and shoulders. Below this
are the different numbers that can be stored: “Mobile”, “Home number” and “Office
number”. Proceed now to enter the name using the letters on the keypad. E.g. to enter
SUE press the 7 key four times for the S, then the 8 key twice for the U and finally the
3 key twice for the E. (Use the Clear button if you make a mistake). Scroll down the
screen and in turn, using the numeric keypad, enter the Mobile, Home and/or Office
numbers for the contact you have entered alongside each of the number types. When
all the required numbers and name have been entered press the “Save” button to save
these details. The phone will then revert to the full phonebook list after momentarily
showing a green tick. To change records in the phonebook select Options, and scroll
down to “Edit” to make changes to the details of any highlighted contact.
10
SOS Calls
The SOS (Emergency call) button is located on the back of the phone. Please see
the section titled Emergency within the Settings menu, for information on how to
programme emergency numbers and associated settings.
Activation is by pressing and holding this button for three seconds or twice in one
second. Alternatively it can be set to operate when pressed three times within two
seconds. When activated you will trigger an audible alarm and initiate an emergency
SOS call. The audible alarm can be set to high, low (a single beep) or silent. If SMS
has been activated within the emergency settings, this will send an emergency user
editable SMS text message to all contacts (up to five) on your Emergency numbers list.
The phone will then dial the first number on the list and if not answered within 25
seconds will dial the next number. Dialling of each number is repeated three times, or
until a call is answered, or until the red cancel/end call button on the phone is
pressed. It is also possible as part of the emergency settings to require the receiver of
the answered call to push the 0 button on their phone within 60 seconds. If this is not
done the next number on the list will be called. This option is useful to prevent an
answer machine being interpreted as an answered call.
The alarm can also be cancelled by pressing the “YES” soft button when the display
shows “Cancel?”. Note that this emergency call function must first be activated in the
Settings section, Emergency before use. The numbers 112 or 999 must not be one of
your listed numbers.
Incoming calls
With the phone switched on, an incoming call is signalled by the phone vibrating and/or
your selected ring tone. If the phone is open, a large symbol of a phone handset and a
moving arrow pointing towards it will appear on the display and the backlighting of the
keys will flash. Accept the call by pressing the button with the green handset. If the
number calling is in your phonebook the name held in the phonebook will also appear
on the screen. It is possible to silence the incoming call by pressing the right soft
button under “Silent”. You can then proceed to answer the call in the normal way or
reject the call by using the right soft button, or by pressing the button with the red
handset.
If the phone is closed and in the standby mode the name of the incoming caller will be
shown on the external display (if the number is stored in your phonebook) in addition to
the incoming call symbol described. The phone will also ring and vibrate in the usual
way. It is also possible to set the phone so that opening it from the closed position will
answer an incoming call.
Using the earpiece
To use the earpiece, insert the small plug on the end of the earpiece cable into the
lower of the two sockets on the right edge of the phone. This is immediately below the
charging socket. When the earpiece is plugged in, a large headphones symbol will
momentarily appear on the display and then a small version will remain on the top row
11
of screen symbols. When removing the earpiece you will hear a beep and a crossed
out headphone symbol will momentarily appear on the display.
The earpiece cable has a lapel clip and where the right ear cable (longer cable) meets
the left ear cable (shorter cable) there is an oval shaped unit containing the
microphone and a small button. This button can be used to answer and to end calls.
End a call or Reject an incoming call
If you wish to end a call, briefly press the end call button. If the person you‘re talking
to hangs up before you do, you do not need to do anything as the call will be cleared
automatically. Closing an open phone will also end the call.
When the phone rings and you do not wish to take the call simply press the same end
call button. A large missed call symbol (a red handset with an exclamation mark) will
appear on the display and a small missed call symbol will show on the top row.
Loudspeaker and earpiece volume
You can only change this volume setting during a call. Press the top of the rocker
switch on the left edge of the phone to increase the volume and the bottom of this
rocker switch to reduce the volume. The rocker switch in the centre of the phone can
also be used to increase and reduce the volume. The display shows the current
volume setting using vertical bars with seven bars being the maximum.
Silent alert
Press and hold the hash (#) button, which is in the bottom right corner of the number
keypad, for two seconds to either switch on or off the ring alert function. In the silent
mode only the vibrate mode will operate. In normal mode ring and vibrate will operate
together if this has been selected. A small message is displayed momentarily to
indicate the selected state. Silent alert can also be turned on and off within the
Settings options.
Please note: it is not possible to select or operate in silent mode when the
headphones are fitted.
Messages
A dedicated message button is situated on the front of the phone, giving you quick
access to the message functions. They can also be accessed through the menu
structure, by pressing Menu, then scrolling down to Messages. In addition to the
standard SMS message functionality, the phone can also send and receive MMS
picture, video and voice messages.
When you access the Message function, either via the message button on the right
side of the third row of buttons or through the menu, you will be presented with six
options, these are: “SMS”, “Voice Message”, “MMS”, “Inbox”, “Outbox” and “Sent”.
12
SMS
Highlight “SMS” and press OK. This takes you into the “Write Message” screen. There
are two ways in which you can enter a text message, either manually, selecting each
letter in turn or by using Predictive text, which uses a dictionary to suggest words after
letters are entered. (Predictive text can be switched on within Menu, Settings,
Messages and then Predictive text. Select On or Off and press OK).
Compose a new message using the number keypad. The numbers buttons 2-9 can be
used to enter letters by pressing the button multiple times to scroll through the
available letters for that number. The letters for each number are also printed on the
buttons and their use is as follows.
Button two has A, B and C. Button three has D, E, and F. Button four has G, H and I.
Button five has J, K and L. Button six has M, N and O. Button seven has P, Q, R and
S. Button eight has T, U and V. Button nine has W, X, Y and Z. For example "hello"
can be entered as follows: h - press number 4 twice, e - press number 3 twice, l - press
number 5 three times, l - press number 5 three times, o - press number 6 three times.
The zero button is used to enter spaces between words. The star button is used to
enter a wide range of available symbols while the one button has the popular
punctuation symbols.
The hash button is used to select the character entry method. Pressing it will toggle
between predictive text entry of mixed case letters, upper case letters and lower case
letters (if switched on), followed by normal entry of mixed case letters, upper case
letters, lower case letters and numbers. The entry method you are in is indicated at the
top left of the screen by ABC etc in the appropriate format. A small box with a tick in it
shows that you are in a Predictive text mode.
Entering a standard SMS text message
Using the buttons as described enter the text message you wish to send noting that a
single text message can be up to 160 characters long. To create a manual text
message, press the number button repeatedly until the desired letter is shown; wait a
second or two then enter the next character and so on.
To enter a message using Predictive text, press each button once, even if the
displayed letter is not the one you want. The dictionary will suggest words based on
the buttons you have pressed. Scroll to the letter or combination listed you wish to use
and press the select button. Continue with the next word.
When you have finished entering your message, press To. Scroll to either "Enter
number" or select one of the names in the Phonebook.
With “Enter number”, press “Select” and enter the recipient's number on the keypad
and press “Done”. You will then be prompted to “Send the message” or “Add another
recipient”. Scroll to the required option and press OK.
13
Alternatively you can just scroll down to one of the phonebook names shown and
press OK. Once again, you then have the choice to Send or Add another number who
you also want to send the message to. This additional number can also be manually
entered or selected from the Phonebook.
When you send the message the screen will show “Sending” and then “Saved and
sent”.
Voice Message
Selecting the Voice message option within Messages takes you immediately into a
recording mode. Speak into the phone to record your message and when finished
push the right soft button labelled Stop. You will then be prompted to save the
recording by selecting “yes” or “no”. If you choose “yes”, you are taken to Phonebook
where you will have the choice of adding a recipient from the phonebook or entering a
number directly. In the Send MMS screen you are then able to send the voice
message or add further recipients as with a standard SMS text message.
MMS
By selecting MMS you will be taken into a “write message” screen which you complete
as you would a SMS message using the keypad. The difference with an MMS
message is that you are able to add a picture, video or sound clip to any text that you
may have written and also include a title.
After you have written the text message part (which can be left blank if you prefer) ,
select the left soft button for Options. You will then be presented with the following
five options:
 To - after you have added your attachment using one or more of the other four
options below, enter the “To” phone number either manually or by selecting from
the phonebook entries. You will then be able to send the message.
 Add picture - when this is selected you will be prompted to choose a picture from
“My pictures” which will take you into your list of stored pictures on the phone or
memory card or “Take picture” which will turn the phone's camera on so that you
can take a photograph. When you have the picture you want press OK to attach it to
the message.
 Add sound - when this is selected you will be prompted to choose a sound from
“My sounds” which will take you into your list of stored sounds on the phone or
memory card or “Record sound” which will start the phone immediately recording a
voice message. When you have the sound you want press OK to attach it to the
message.
 Add video - when this is selected you will be prompted to choose a video clip from
“My videos” which will take you into your list of stored videos on the phone or
memory card. As the phone cannot capture videos directly these will have to have
been sent to you previously by MMS message. When you have the video you want
press OK to attach it to the message.
 Add subject - this enables you to add a text subject title or description to the
picture, sound or video you are sending.
14
When you have added all the attachments you want you will be prompted to “Save” or
“Exit”.
Inbox
When you receive a message, you will hear an alert, depending on what alert you have
selected. You will see an envelope symbol appear on the display with the name of the
sender below it if the sender is in your Phonebook. The message can be read directly
on receipt by pressing the left soft button for “Read”. Alternatively, press the
dedicated Message button on the phone and scroll to “Inbox” and the screen will
display the number of messages in the Inbox, press “OK”. Scroll to and select a
message from the list and press “Read” to display the text. Use the arrow buttons to
scroll up or down through the text and to display the date and time the message was
received.
Select “Options” with the left soft button. You can then select from the following:
Reply: Type your reply (see entering a standard SMS text message) and press “To”.
There is then a choice to reply just to the sender by selecting Send or adding others to
the reply as described previously above.
Call: This will initiate a voice call to the number that has sent you the text.
Delete: Press “yes” to delete the message or “no” to return to the message.
Edit: Edit the message and press “To” to show the usual sending options.
Forward: Allows you to edit the message before you select the “To” options as
previously described.
Use number: This will display all numbers used in the message itself, as well as the
sender's number. Select the number you require and press options, then choose one
of the following:
 Call - calls the selected number
 Save - save the selected number into the phonebook
 Send SMS - write a new SMS message
Outbox
Any message that you send will be stored in the Outbox until it has been successfully
sent. Lack of credit on the phone or poor signal reception can be reasons for
messages not being sent.
Press the Message button and scroll to “Outbox” where the number of Outbox
messages will be displayed and then press “OK”. All the messages in your Outbox will
then be shown with a closed envelope and white X in a red circle next to them. This X
15
indicates they have failed. A failed MMS message will also have a white M over the
envelope.
Select the required message and press “Read” to display the message. Press
“Options” and then choose from one of the following: “Resend”, “Edit”, “Delete” or “Use
Number”. “Resend” will attempt to send the message again and use of the others is as

left to right, a green arrow going right to left and with a red exclamation mark. Using
the central rocker switch, scroll up or down to reach the required call, press the
Options button and select “View” before pressing OK to display the details. Use the
rocker switch again to scroll through these details, which include “Name”, “Number”,
“Date”, “Time”, “Call duration” and how often called.
It also possible to enter the Call log by momentarily pressing the answer call button
with the green handset button. The Call log list as described above will then be
displayed.
When you miss a phone call the display will show a large red handset symbol with an
exclamation mark and the number of calls you have missed. When this is displayed,
press the corresponding soft button under “Read” to show details of the missed call.
Up to 20 calls of each type can be stored and only the most recent call of the same
number is held. Items can be deleted from the call log if required using the options
“Delete” or “Delete All”. Numbers in the log can also be saved to the phonebook using
“Save”.
Camera
The in-built camera can be activated in one of two ways. Either go to the Menu and
scroll down until you reach the Camera option and press OK or simply press the
central camera button on the top row of buttons. Either method will turn the camera
on and display what the camera lens is seeing on the phone's display. Remember that
the lens is near the bottom edge on the open phone's flip cover.
16
Taking a picture
After you have framed the subject you wish to photograph on the screen simply press
the central camera button. After a slight delay the display will go blank, you will hear
an audible "click" and then the picture you have taken will appear frozen on the display
with a picture reference number at the top. You then have the option, using the left
and right soft buttons, to either choose “Options” or “Back”. Selecting “Back” will
return you to the camera mode where you will be able to take another picture. On
selecting “Options” you will have the choice of “Send”, “Delete” or “Use”.
Send
On selecting send with an OK you will be asked if you want to “Send by MMS” or
“Send by Bluetooth”. “Send by MMS” allows you to enter a message under the picture
and then follow the previous set of options that exist for MMS messages as previously
described. “Send by Bluetooth” will enable you to send the picture to a linked Bluetooth
device.
Delete
If the delete option is chosen you will be prompted to confirm your deletion by using
the Yes or No soft button.
Use
The phone lets you use the photos taken as background wallpaper on the display or to
link to a contact in the phonebook by selecting Wallpaper or Phonebook respectively.
Pressing OK for Wallpaper will immediately change your previously selected wallpaper
to the picture you have taken. Selecting Phonebook takes you into the phonebook and
lets you attach the photo to the contact name you select.
If you delay in selecting an Option the picture will be saved automatically.
Please note: If you have fitted a Micro SD memory card in the phone, photos will be
automatically stored on the memory card and not on the phone itself unless you
change this using “Storage” within “Image viewer” as described below.
Zoom and Light Sensitivity
When the camera is turned on, using the central scroll buttons can digitally zoom in on
the subject up to 4X, with your zoom setting being displayed centrally in a box at the
bottom of the screen. (Note: zooming may reduce the image quality). It is also possible
to adjust the camera's light sensitivity by using the up/down volume buttons on the left
edge of the phone. This sensitivity setting is displayed in a box at the top right corner
of the display.
Flash
No flash is available with this camera.
17
Viewing your photos
See “Image Viewer” section.
Please note: To save battery life, your camera will switch off and return to the menu
screen if it has not been used for a period of two minutes.
Image viewer
From the Menu scroll down to “Image viewer” and press OK. You will be taken in to the
collection of photos that have been taken and stored on the phone. Note: if you have
fitted a Micro SD memory card in the phone you will be taken to the collection of
photos stored on the memory card or phone based on the setting made within Storage.
The way the photos are shown can be changed using the “Browse style” and “Sort by”
options (covered in this section).
Within “Image viewer”, select “Options” using the left soft button, which will present
you with the following:
 View - this will display the selected photograph over the full display.
 Send - enables you to send your photo either by MMS message or via a Bluetooth
connection. With MMS, an MMS message will be pre-populated with the selected
photo and then you follow the usual MMS message sending process described
earlier. With Bluetooth, you will be prompted to activate a Bluetooth connection if
not previously switched on and then follow the usual Bluetooth procedure.
 Delete - after requesting confirmation this enables you to delete the selected photo.
 Use - the selected photo can either be used as the background wallpaper for the
phone's display by selecting Wallpaper or it can be attached to a phonebook record
by selecting Phonebook picture. Phonebook picture provides a list of the contacts in
your phonebook allowing you to select the one you wish to attach the picture to by
pressing OK.
 Details - provides you with the date the photo was taken, the size of the file and a
copyright statement.
 Rename - all photos are automatically assigned a unique sequential image number
starting when the picture is taken. The “Rename” option enables you to assign a
useful name for each picture using simple text entry. You will need to clear the
existing number before entering the name unless you wish to retain both.
 Browse style - within “Browse style” you have the ability to display your photo
collection on the display in three different ways as follows. “List” will show a screen
filled with four small photos with the photo's number or name alongside it. You can
18
scroll down the page and beyond to the photo you wish to select. "Medium" will
show nine small photos in a 3x3 grid on the screen with no names or numbers.
Scrolling will step through these photos producing a red highlighted border around
the selected photo. "Large" is the default setting and will populate the screen with a
single photo and scrolling will step through the collection one at a time.
 Sort by - sort your photo sequence alphabetically by “Name” or chronologically by
“Time”, which will sort them in date order with the most recent first.
 Storage - select where the photos should be stored and/or viewed if you have a
Micro SD memory card fitted. Options are “Phone” or “Memory card”. If no card is
installed this option will not be presented.
 Delete all - care should be taken in the use of this but it will enable you, after a
confirmation "Yes", to delete all of the photos stored in your phone. Using “Delete”
(see above) to remove photos individually is often the preferred option.

created. Scroll to the option you require and proceed by pressing OK.

This function will provide you with the total duration in hours, minutes and seconds of
your “Last call”, all “Outgoing calls” or “Received calls” since the call time was last
reset using the “Reset all” option.
Note that during a call the duration of the existing call is shown on the display.
Answer mode
The options that are given are “Open to answer” or “Any key”. Scroll to the one you
want and push OK. You will then have the ability to select this function as “On” or “Off”.
28
If “Open to Answer” is “On” then the action of opening the phone from its closed status
will automatically answer the call.
When “On” is selected for “Any key”, pushing any key on the keypad (except for the
red end call button) will answer an incoming phone call. When “Off” is selected, you
can only use the Call button to answer the call.
Call setup
These services are provided by some of the network operators. Where they are
provided by your operator you will be able to set up the following areas. Scroll through
the list and push OK to select the option you want.
Caller ID
Controls the display of your phone number on the recipients phone. Select from the
following options:
 Set by network - Use the default setting set by your network.
 Hide ID - Your number will never appear on a recipients phone.
 Send ID - Your number will always appear on a recipients phone.
Call waiting
Provides options to “Activate” or “Deactivate” this function to notify you if a call is
waiting when you are on another call, or “Query status”, which displays if the service is
active or not or if it is provided by your network provider.
Call divert
There are four different diverts that can be set up on your phone to divert calls under
certain conditions to another number. Scroll down the list and select from the following
by pushing OK. With each option you will be invited to “Activate”, “Deactivate” or
“Query status”. When activating you will be able to enter the number to divert calls to.
Voice calls
Activating this option will divert all of the received calls to another number or to
voicemail (if permitted by the network operator).
Unreachable
Activating this option will divert calls to another number or voicemail if the phone is
switched off or out of reception range.
No reply
Activating this option will divert calls to another number or voicemail if the incoming call
is unanswered.
If busy
Activating this option will divert calls to another number or voicemail if the phone is
busy on another call.
29
Cancel diverts
The selection of this option will deactivate all divert instructions that may have been set
up using the other settings above. Note that care should be taken as when selected
there is no confirmation stage prior to the diverts being cancelled.
Call barring
Call barring functions can be set if they are supported by your service provider. It is
possible to bar certain types of outgoing calls classified as “All calls”, “International
calls” or “International calls except home”. Also all incoming calls or only incoming calls
when roaming (e.g. when abroad) can also be barred. A password may be required to
do this and like diverts it is possible to cancel all barring in a single step.
Messages
Predictive text
A choice of “On” or “Off”. Select “On” and OK to enable Smart ABC/eZiType predictive
text on the phone or “Off” and OK for standard text entry. See Text input for details on
its usage.
Write speed
You can change the speed at which keyboard characters rotate around the character
options on each button before the cursor moves on to the next character. Select “Fast”,
“Normal” or “Slow” and then OK based on how fast you tend to enter text messages.
SMS settings
Within these SMS settings there are four different areas to be set as follows:
Memory status
This tells you how much of the allocated message memory has been used on the
phone and on the SIM card.
Storage
This enables you to state your preference between the SIM card and the phone to
store your messages.
Profile set
This will display the number set by your network operator to enable the use of SMS
text messaging. Press “Edit” and use the side rocker switch to step through it. Press
“Save” to exit. There should be no need to change this number unless you have a
problem.
Cell information
You can receive messages on various topics from your service provider, such as
weather or traffic reports (contact your provider for details).
 Function on/off - set to turn information on or off
 Read messages - select Read and OK to read the message
30
 Languages - select required languages on or off and press Done
 Channel settings - add, edit or delete the channels as required
MMS settings
These settings are needed to use the MMS function. Within MMS settings you have
the options of “Memory status” or “MMS profile”. “Memory status” simply tells you the
amount of memory available to you on the phone or the memory card (if fitted). “MMS
profile” should present you with your network provider's setting within the data account
which will have been sent through by the network provider. If more than one is present
select the profile for your network, press “Options” and select “Activate” and OK. You
will now be able to send and receive MMS messages. This selection can be edited or
deleted later if required.
Please note: Some service providers require you to send an MMS message with text
only before you will be able to receive an MMS. Providers may also require you to
contact them to enable MMS on your account.
Reminder
This reminder alerts you once, by means of a large envelope on the screen, if you
haven't checked your newly received text message within 10 minutes of receipt. Select
“On” and OK to activate this function.
Vibration
You are able to choose between a short (four second) and a long (12 second) vibration
that will be activated when you receive a new text message. Note if alert type is set to
“Ring only” the phone will not vibrate.
Delivery report
Select from “On” or “Off” to determine whether you wish to receive notification that your
message has reached the recipient. Note that some operators will charge you for that
message.
Delete
Enables you to delete the total existing contents of your message inbox, outbox, sent
messages or all messages by selecting “Inbox”, “Outbox”, “Sent” or “Delete All” and
then OK. You will then be prompted to confirm this decision by choosing “Yes” or “No”.
Camera
The phone is fitted with a simple to use camera and this area within Settings enables
you to set the camera up to operate as you require. On selecting “Camera” you will be
presented with three options as follows:
EV information
This is simply a statement telling you that the light sensitivity can be adjusted when in
camera mode by using the volume buttons on the left edge of the phone.
31
Image size
It is possible within this option to select the quality of your photos from a choice of
three settings. “Wallpaper2 which has the lowest quality through to “2MP” (2
megapixels) which has the highest quality. It should be noted that the higher the quality
chosen, the fewer photos you will be able to store in the memory.
Shutter sound
An artificial shutter sound for the camera can either be turned “Off” or it can be set to a
“Low” or “High” volume sound.
Emergency
These settings are for use with the SOS emergency button that is located on the
back of the phone. It enables the activation settings, contact numbers and message
details to be created. Scroll to the option you require and press OK to select.
Activation
Within activation there are the options of “On Normal”, “On (3)” or “Off” to select from.
Use the rocker switch to scroll and the OK button to select. “On Normal” means that
the button is enabled by pressing it and holding for more than three seconds or
pressing it twice within one second. “On (3)” means that the button is enabled and is
activated by pressing it three times within one second. “Off” means that the SOS
emergency call button on the back of the phone is disabled.
Numbers list
You can enter up to five emergency numbers to be automatically contacted by
triggering the emergency call button. These will be contacted in turn with a text
message and/or a call until one number answers.
Select an “Empty” location and press “Add” and then either “Phonebook” or “Manual”.
In “Phonebook” scroll to the contact you wish to use and press OK to select it. If more
than one number is held against this contact you will need to select the number to be
used. (Note that it may not be possible to receive a text message over a landline
number). Press OK to add this contact and number to the emergency list.
In Manual enter the name and a phone number directly on the screen and then press
the OK button.
Care should be taken not to use numbers with automatic answering machines as the
calling sequence will cease at this number if the call is answered by the machine. This
answer machine problem can be avoided if “Confirm with 0” is used (covered in this
section). Note that previously stored emergency names and numbers can be edited to
change them if required.
32
SMS
Options in the emergency SMS area are “Activation” and “Message”.
Selecting “Activation” enables you to turn the SMS messaging function “On” or “Off”. If
it is set to “On” a message and a call will be made to the numbers in the Numbers List.
If set to “Off”, only a call will be made.
Selecting “Message” enables you to enter the text message that you wish to be sent to
your numbers list when you activate the SOS emergency button. Press the “Edit”
button to enable the entry of the message. Using the letters on the keypad enter an
SMS text message of up to 160 characters that will be sent to your emergency
numbers. This message will be sent to all numbers on the emergency number list in
addition to a call being made if SMS activation has been set to “On”.
Confirm with "0"
In this option there are two choices, “Off” or “On”.
If “Off” is selected the phone will dial the first number on the list. If the call is not
answered within 25 seconds, the next number will be dialled. This approach is adopted
for the five numbers on the list. Dialling is repeated three times or earlier if the call is
answered. Dialling will stop if the end call button on the phone is pressed at any
stage.
If “On” is selected, the function will work as above AND: if the receiver of the
emergency call doesn't press 0 (zero) within 60 seconds of answering, the call will be
disconnected and the next number in sequence will be called. If the receiver does
press 0 within 60 seconds, the call is confirmed and no further call attempts will be
made (i.e. the emergency sequence is interrupted).
Signal type
There is a choice of three levels of the signal indication from the phone itself that
should accompany the emergency dialling sequence. Scroll to the required level and
press OK. “High” will give a loud signal (default setting); “Low” will sound one low
signal; “Silent” will have no sound at all (just like a normal call).
Alarm info
You will be presented with the following warning message:
"Be careful about including numbers with automatic answering in the call list, as the
alarm sequence stops once the call is answered".
Bluetooth
You can connect the phone wirelessly to other Bluetooth compatible devices, such as
headsets. Within Settings scroll to “Bluetooth”, press OK and then select from the
following options:
33
Function on/off
Allows you to enable/disable Bluetooth by selecting “On” or “Off”.
Visibility
Select “On” or “Off” to make your phone visible/invisible to other devices.
Device name
Enter the name your phone should appear as for other Bluetooth devices and press
OK. Note the default name entered is Doro612, but this can be changed.
Search device
Search for your available Bluetooth devices. If Bluetooth is not enabled, you can
enable it now by pressing “Yes”. When searching you may need to press “Cancel” to
stop the search process after the device you want has been found.
1. Select from the list of devices and press “Bond” to connect to that device.
2. When connecting with another Bluetooth device you will need a shared pass code.
Refer to your Bluetooth device's manual for the pass code, enter it in and press OK.
My device
This option shows a list of saved devices and enables you to add new devices. Select
either “Search new” or select the device from the list and press “Options”, then choose
from the possible options:
 Connect/Disconnect- Connect/Disconnect the selected device. Select the required
profile, which is usually headset.
 Set default - sets the selected device as the default.
 Rename - Change the name of the device.
 Delete - Delete the device from the list.
 Delete all- Delete all devices from the list.
Audio path
Select from the two options:
 Phone - incoming calls will be answered with the phone.
 Forward BT - incoming calls are forwarded to the Bluetooth device.
Security
Within security you have seven options to scroll to and select by pressing the OK
button.
SIM lock
The SIM card is protected by a PIN code (which will be supplied with your SIM) and
the phone can be set to ask for the PIN on start-up. Options of “On”, “Off” or
“Automatic” are offered. Select “On” or “Off” to activate or deactivate this functionality.
34
Selecting “Automatic” means that no PIN needs be entered as the phone remembers it
automatically. However if the SIM card is moved to another phone a PIN code will be
needed to unlock it.
Phone lock
Select “On” or “Off” and press the OK or push the Back button to return to the security
options. If “On” is selected you will need to enter a phone unlock code every time the
phone is used. The default code is 1234. Most users choose not to use phone locks.
Remote config
This feature allows trusted friends or family to send and update information on your
phone. With this function enabled your phone can receive new phonebook contacts,
new speed dial contacts, calendar tasks and revised settings for the emergency
button. When activated you do not need to do anything as it is the nominated contact
numbers who will send the new or changed information to your mobile phone from
their mobile phone.
On selecting “Remote config” you will be presented with options of “Activation” and
“Numbers list”. Within “Activation” simply select “On” or “Off” to enable or disable the
functionality.
Within “Numbers list” you will be able to select up to five names and mobile phone
numbers who will be able to send you updates. These can be selected from the
existing details contained in your Phonebook or entered manually. If you select a
Phonebook contact where you do not have a mobile number stored you will be
prompted to enter a mobile number.
Fixed Dial
The fixed dialling function allows calls to be limited to certain numbers saved on the
SIM card. The list of allowed numbers is protected by your PIN2 code. In Mode, select
“On” or “Off”, press OK. Enter PIN2 code and press OK to confirm. Within the Fixed
numbers option you can create the restricted list of numbers that can be called.
Passwords
This enables a user to change the PIN, PIN2 or Phone password codes to new values
by entering the old code and then the new code twice followed by OK on each
occasion. This functionality to change PINs and passwords is unlikely to be required.
Reset settings
After entering the phone lock password (default 1234) the phone can be reset to
factory settings by pressing OK. This reset will not affect any of your content such as
contacts, number lists and messages
35
Reset all
The “clean” function will restore all settings to the factory defaults and also delete all of
your contacts, number lists and messages. Enter the phone's password (default 1234)
and press OK.
File Manager
On selecting, the file manager tells you how much space you have in the phone's
memory as a total and how much is still free to use. If additional memory has been
added to the phone in the form of a Micro SD card, this information is also available for
the Micro SD memory.
Scroll to “Phone” or “Memory Card” (if fitted) and press “Open”. You will be presented
with a list of folders within the phone comprising of “Photos”, “Images”, “Audio” and
“Received”. Within Memory card the folders are “Audio” and “Photos”.
Within the folders there are the options of “View”, “Send”, “Details”, “Use”, “Rename”,
“Delete”, “Delete all” and “Sort by”. These have been previously described within
Image viewer above. However, within “File manager” you also have the options to
“Copy” or “Move”. These are only relevant if you have fitted a Micro SD card as the
options enable you to either move or copy your files from the phone to the memory
card and vice versa.
Remote user instructions
It is possible for an authorised remote user, such as a relative, to make changes
remotely to the details stored in the phone. This feature provides enormous opportunity
for the settings to be maintained when circumstances change. The settings that can be
amended remotely and how to change them are detailed below.
Please note: Before any friend or relative can change any of the details stored on your
phone you must activate “Remote Configuration” and add their mobile number to the
“Numbers List” as detailed in Remote Config section.
How it works
The phone is updated by an authorised contact sending an SMS message in a specific
format to the phone number of the phone to be updated. The user doesn't need to do
anything as when the phone receives the text message it will automatically update the
phone. The user will not be aware that changes have been received. In all cases the
SMS format must be *#Command# otherwise the SMS cannot be identified as a
remote control command and the parameters must always be separated by the # sign.
Setting a contact in the Phonebook
This command enables a new contact name and phone numbers to be sent to the
phone. These contact details will always be stored in the phone's memory and not the
SIM regardless of the memory setting on the phone.
36
The format for the SMS message is *#phonebook#P1#P2#P3#P4# where P1 is the
contact's name (up to 30 characters) ; P2 is the mobile number (up to 40 digits); P3 is
the home number; and P4 is the office number. Remember to include the full area
(STD) code in the numbers and international numbers should commence with a "+"
before the country code. If any of the three phone numbers are not applicable or not
available you should enter a "." (full stop) between the two # signs where a number
would appear.
An example of a contact message to send John Smith's mobile (07920123456), home
(0173337500) and office (03031239999) phone numbers you would send the following
text message.
*#phonebook#John Smith#07920123456 #0173337500#03031239999#
Setting the Emergency function
This command enables an authorised contact to make three different types of changes
to the emergency button functionality on the phone. It can be used to activate the
emergency button (i.e. make it functional); to add or change one of the emergency
numbers; and finally to turn the sending of the emergency text message on or off and
change the message that is sent. For details of the emergency button functionality see
Emergency section above.
The format for the SMS message is *#alert#P1#P2#P3#P4# where: For activation P1 is "a" ; P2 is either 0, 1 or 2 where 0 is Off, 1 is On normal and 2 is
On with three button presses. E.g. *#alert#a#0# will disable the emergency button.
 For adding or changing an emergency number P1 is "n"; P2 is 1 to 5 for the location
in the number list; P3 is the contact's name (up to 30 characters); and P4 is the
contact's phone number (up to 40 digits). E.g. *#alert#n#1#John#0770123456# will
add John as the first emergency contact with his phone number 0770123456.
 For turning the message on or off and changing the message content P1 is "m"; P2
is 0 or 1 for Off or On; and P3 is the text message to be sent in an emergency. E.g.
*#alert#m#1#Janet is in need of help# will turn on the messaging and will send the
message "Janet is in need of help".
 To turn the "confirm with 0" function on or off P1 is "c"; and P2 is either 0 or 1 for Off
or On. E.g. *#alert#c#1# will turn on the need for the receiver of an emergency call
to confirm receipt by pressing the "0" on their phone.
 To set the signal type when the emergency button is pressed P1 is "s"; and P2 is 0,
1 or 2 where 0 will set a loud signal, 1 a short quiet signal and 2 will set no signal
(silence). E.g. *#alert#s#2 will mean that when the emergency button is pressed the
phone will not make any sound while is it dialling around the emergency numbers.
Setting the one touch memories
This command enables the three one touch memory buttons (A, B and C) to be set
remotely. The format for setting one touch memories is *#memorykey#P1#P2#P3#
where P1 is the button letter a, b or c; P2 is the contact's name (up to 30 characters);
and P3 is the contact's phone number (up to 40 digits).
37
E.g. To set one touch memory button "B" as Jack Brown on 0770123456 the text
message to be sent would be.
*#memorykey#b#jackbrown#0770123456
Adding a task to the calendar
The final command enables a new task to be set up remotely in the calendar of the
phone. The format for the SMS message is *#task#P1#P2#P3# where P1 is the date in
yyyymmdd format; P2 is the time in hhmm format; and P3 is the description of the task
(up to 35 characters). E.g. to set up a dentist's appointment in the calendar for 14:30
on the 9th July 2011 you would send the following text message.
*#task#20110709#1430#dentist appointment#

Hints and Tips
Calls fail to connect
Check you are in network coverage, you have sufficient airtime and that the phone
numbers you are dialing are correct.
Phoning outside of your own country
If you are outside the home network of your network provider, your mobile phone
automatically detects and goes through another GSM network. For information on
additional costs incurred when using the phone outside your own national borders,
please contact your network provider.
How often should the rechargeable battery be recharged?
To maximize battery life do not recharge the rechargeable battery after every phone
conversation. Over the course of time, this leads to a reduced battery capacity. To
keep the battery in the best condition it is recommended that you allow the battery to
go flat and then fully recharge it completely once a month.
Can an emergency call, by entering 112, be made without network coverage or
airtime credit?
If there is no reception or you have no airtime credit the international emergency
number 112 can usually still be dialed. This facility is only to be used in a real
emergency and where you need the direct response of the emergency services. Abuse
of this facility may result in your phone being barred from making a call of any kind.
38
How can you improve the reception?
Try another location: when indoors, head towards a window or continue with the
conversation after you have exited an elevator, underground garage or a tunnel.
Safety advice
 Mobile phones must normally be turned off in hospitals and in the proximity of
medical devices. Please comply with any notices and requests from staff to
switch off your phone.
 There should be a minimum distance of 20cm between a cardiac pacemaker and
a working phone. The mobile phone must never be carried in the chest pocket.
 Please take advice from your medical advisor before you use this phone or any
other phone.
 The mobile phone must be turned off when directed to by the ground or cabin
staff when you are at an airport or on board an aircraft.
 The mobile phone must not be used when you are at or are close to petrol
stations and other potentially dangerous flammable locations.
 Do not use your phone if you suspect a gas leak.
 The SIM card should be handled carefully, like a credit card: do not bend it,
scratch it or subject it to static electricity.
 Do not subject the phone to direct solar radiation. A usage other than that
described beforehand leads to the damage of the product. In addition, another
usage could lead to dangers such as, for example, electrocution, fire, etc. It is
illegal to change or rebuild any of the product parts and the encasement may not
be opened.
Cleaning
Use a damp cloth to clean the device. Avoid the use of sprays and too many fluids
because these can enter the device through openings on the keypad and could cause
damages. Do not use any cleaning materials or fluids that contain scouring agents,
alcohol, spirits or solvents (turpentine). These agents can attack the synthetic
encasement and damage the imprint.
This mobile phone is to be used as a mobile communications device and contact with
dampness for example, in rain or in the bathroom, etc., must be avoided. Be careful
not to damage the phone in any way.
