Unfortunately, the football game saw much better conditions on the field than the Thames River provided for racing. Racing began with light Northerly with strong ebb that continued to increase throughout the day (3+ knots). The conditions were challenging for sailors and race management alike. The weather mark was voluntarily moved many times by competitors which helped keep 17 a the mark set boat busy. Seven races were sailed in A-Division (420’s) and six were completed in BDivision. There were no protests or breakdowns. Sunday, September 30: Sunday brought similar conditions as yesterday with the breeze coming out of the NE. The divisions switched fleets to start the day with race 7B started at 10:00. The ebb started shortly after racing began and increased rapidly. Three races in A were sailed and two in B and the breeze died just before noon. We took an early lunch break and waited patiently until 2:00 when racing was called for the day. All courses were W-4’s with the finish line to starboard of the race committee boat. There were no protests or breakdowns.
