Homework – Class 3 Dragons Topic Please remember that you should be reading 3 times a week for at least 15 minutes per session. These sessions have to be recorded in your reading diary by your parents (or readers), and sometimes yourself. On top of this there are the fortnightly spellings and mental maths tasks. Core Task 1 To be completed by Friday 30th January Write a book review for a book that you know really well. It may be a favourite book of yours or one that you have read recently. Write about what happened in the book and what you thought about it. Here are some questions to help get you thinking: What is the title? Who is the author? What kind of book is it? (fiction – adventure, science fiction, poetry, playscript; non-fiction- information, explanation, recount..) What was the book about? What happened in the story? What was the best bit? Which characters did you like most and why? Which parts of the book did you like most and why? Have you read anything else like this before? Have you read anything else by the same author? Who is the book aimed at? Who would you recommend the book to? Core Task 2 To be completed by Monday 9th February Write two excellent paragraphs about a role model or person who has achieved a goal that you respect or would like to achieve yourself. You should do some research. This can be done in different ways depending on the person you have chosen. Please bring in pictures, items and/or magazine articles relating to the person and what they have achieved. These questions might help: • What have they achieved? • Why do you respect them for this? • What obstacles were in their way? • How did they overcome them? • Who helped them achieve their goal? • What do you think they said/did when they felt like giving up? For your third homework task choose one of the following and bring it into school when you have completed it: Choose which homework you would like to do from the following list: Artistic homework Design a cartoon dragon.
