You
At Coppin State, English 101 instructors have integrated MyWritingLab into their courses; to get credit for any work you do in
MyWritingLab, you need to tell MyWritingLab which English 101 course you are enrolled in.
Step VI: Join Your Instructor’s Course
Once you opt to “Join Your Instructor’s Course,” you need to tell MyWritingLab which specific course you are enrolled in.
Your instructor should provide you with a MyWritingLab Course ID number in class. This is a combination of numbers and letters
that will tell the system exactly which materials and assignments to display for you.
7
If for some reason, you do not have access to the Course ID, you may search for your Instructor’s course. Enter your Instructor’s
last name in the search box and hit “Search.” There will appear a list of all courses with instructors with that last name.
If you have your Institution (Coppin State), your Instructor’s Name, the Course Number (English 101), and your Section number, you
can join the course manually. Please be careful in joining a course manually: if you join the incorrect course, you will not receive
any credit for the work you do in MyWritingLab.
Step VIII: Start Work!
Now that you have joined a course, you are ready to begin your work with MyWritingLab.
When you enter the site, you will see “My Study Plan,” which consists of several modules:
Diagnostic Pre-Tests

Strategies for Writing Essays
Reviewing the Basics
These modules correspond to Chapters in our English 101 textbook, Expressways for Writing Scenarios. During the
semester, you will be assigned various exercises from these modules.

Each module expands to show sub-modules, each containing sets of exercises.
