Uniformitarianism vs. Catastrophism Assignment
Your assignment is to design a full-color poster announcing an upcoming
debate between James Hutton and a catastrophist (such as Georges Cuvier or
another proponent of catastrophism that you find via research). As an
advertisement, the poster should have attention-catching phrases and
illustrations that would attract supporters from both sides. You want people
to come to your debate!
Other requirements:
o Completed on a (white or colored) sheet of 8 ½ X 11 paper ONLY!
o An understanding of the major points of both sides (uniformitarianism
and catastrophism) must be displayed on the poster.
o Colorful, attractive, and creative in presentation (don’t leave a lot of
white space on the poster!)
o Due Monday, January 4, 2010.
