ID Hack 2014 Judges Vitor Pamplona is co­founder and CTO of a spin­off from the MIT Media Lab called EyeNetra Inc. PhD on Computer Science, Vitor created award­winning two­dollar smartphone snap­ons to measure refractive errors and map cataracts and a new 3D display that eliminate the need of corrective eyeglasses. He is also known for co­founding one of the largest collaboration platforms for software engineers reaching 50k portuguese­speaking developers in the early 2000s and creating the first 3D game engine for feature phones. Eric Reynolds co­instructs MIT’s D­Lab Design for Scale class and manages the D­Lab Scale­Ups Fellowship program — providing support to MIT alums who’ve founded tech­based social ventures. He started at D­Lab in 2010 and was formerly a member of Zimba, a safe water social enterprise, and worked at Battelle Memorial Institute and the New England Complex Systems Institute. Akshar is a senior at MIT majoring in Chemical Engineering and Economics with minors in Energy Studies and Public Policy. He is a Legatum Fellow for Development & Entrepreneurship and the chair of the Energy & Entrepreneurship Community of the MIT Energy Club. He has worked on a start­up called BioBatts for the past two years, which aimed to develop and disseminate microbial power generators in off­grid villages for lighting applications. Currently, he is working on another start­up, PedalPower, which is also targeting off­grid lighting in villages in Northern India. Nicole is a developer­consultant based out of ThoughtWorks' San Francisco office. She graduated in 2012 with a physics degree. She is proud of the work that ThoughtWorks does in what we call the P3 (social justice) space, and very excited to learn more about all these great initiatives going on at IDHack 2014.
