Secondary Mathematics Education. Assistant Professor. The College of Education at
Clemson University seeks a tenure-track joint appointment in secondary mathematics and
mathematical sciences at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning Fall Semester 2016.
The home department of this joint appointment will be the Department of Teaching and
Learning in the College of Education. The successful candidate will join a dynamic
faculty of four mathematics educators in the College of Education, two of whom hold a
joint appointment with the Department of Mathematical Sciences.
Required Qualifications: Earned doctorate in Mathematics Education or related field and a
minimum of three years of successful secondary school teaching experience (high school
teaching experience is preferred) or equivalent substantial experience in secondary
schools. A master’s degree or equivalent in mathematics is required.
Preferred Qualifications: We are open to a range of research areas and interests related to
mathematics teaching and learning in secondary school contexts or the preparation of
teachers for such contexts.
Successful candidates will be expected to develop and maintain an active scholarly
research agenda and participate in external grant activities. In addition, the new faculty
member will be expected to teach undergraduate- and graduate-level courses in secondary
mathematics education, mathematics courses for preservice mathematics teachers, advise
master’s- and doctoral-level graduate students in their research, and provide service to the
profession, university, and state.
