We have stated before that the Bible says there are certain needs that we all seek to fill: 1. Being loved, being accepted. A feeling of belonging. 2. To feel safe, to have some understanding and control of what goes on in our life. A feeling of security. 3. To have a purpose, being important to something or somebody. Feeling significant. And those needs should all be met through God and your relationship with Him! Of course, the Bible is filled with verses describing God and Jesus as Lord and Creator and Savior and King… …but there are literally hundreds of verses that discuss how God is to also provide for these 3 basic needs in our lives. Tonight I am just going to read a couple of my favorite verses from each category Love / A Sense Of Belonging Jeremiah 31: 3 John 15: 9 - 11 Security / Safety Proverbs 14: 26 Hebrews 13: 5 - 6 Purpose / Significance Psalm 57: 2 Ephesians 2: 10 Notice in the verses above we have a role to play as well. We are promised love, eternal security and a significant role to play in God’s kingdom as long as we fear / respect God, call out to Him in prayer and try to obey His commandments. Sometimes we don’t realize God promises to support us in these 3 important areas and sometimes we don’t get the support because we are not doing our part. Relying on ANYTHING or ANYBODY other than GOD to meet your needs will fail and lead to sin. Challenge For The Week: Which of the 3 main needs do you struggle with the most personally? Why do you think that is? Commit to searching and reading the Bible each day to help you overcome that struggle! 1
