Penn State-Altoona considers students who have enrolled in 18
or more college credits to be transfer students. Students must
be in good academic (GPA of 2.0) and social standing to be
considered for admission. Students with fewer than 30
academic credits maybe required to submit high school
transcripts and test scores.
The maximum number of credits transferable from a community
college varies. Only courses in which the student has earned a C or
better will transfer.

To determine the transferability of Allegany College of Maryland courses visit
http://www.psu.edu/dept/admissions/# . Use a copy of the ACM catalog to determine department and
course numbers. The following courses are recommended to satisfy the general education
requirements for a bachelor’s degree from PSU-Altoona:
 Communication- English 101 and Speech 101
 Quantification- Math 102 or higher (specific course varies with majors)
 Health and Physical Education- Phys. Ed. 100 or 145 and two activity courses
 Fine Arts- Art 101 and Music 112
 Humanities (two courses)- History 101, 102, 103, 104, Philosophy 201 and 202
 Social Science- (two courses)- Economics 201, 202 Geography 102, Political Science
101, Psychology 101, Sociology 101, 102, 203, 205, 207
 Natural Science (two to three courses)- Biology 101, 102, Chemistry 101, 102, Physics
101, 102, 105, 106,201, 202
