Rotary Club of Issaquah proudly presents: Annual Events Rotary Run What Is Issaquah Rotary? The Rotary Club of Issaquah continually redefines itself through new members, new vision and activities, and new forms of local and global service. More than 50 men and women ages 25 to 70+ make up our current membership. Bringing together a wide range of professional and business backgrounds, the Club meets weekly on Tuesdays from 12:15 to 1:30 pm in Issaquah. Our meetings are an informal gathering of friends who work together toward a common purpose: the betterment of our community and world. Rotary’s motto “Service Above Self” amply describes what Rotary is all about. Each week a relevant, interesting program brings our membership together for fellowship. Speakers include local merchants and service providers, industry champions, international experts, and many others that help broaden our professional, ethical and charitable horizons. Rotary builds international understanding through scholarships, exchange programs, and humanitarian grants. Throughout the world, Rotary clubs participate in a broad range of educational, intercultural, and humanitarian activities designed to improve the lives of others. Provides tuition, clothing, school supplies/books, enrichment activities, daily hot lunch and even access to computers and the Internet. For their part, each student must maintain a good grade point average, perform social service in the community, attend weekly homework club meetings and always act respectfully toward teachers and fellow students. Benefits of Membership Clean Water Belonging to a Rotary club provides members with an opportunity to make a contribution to their own communities and to communities around the world. Helping to ensure clean drinking water for developing countries is a focus of Rotary International. Our club partners with Rotary clubs in water-starved African communities to provide selfsustaining systems to produce and store potable drinking water, such as rain barrel collection systems. Individuals may join Rotary for many reasons, including community involvement, personal development, professional networking, and camaraderie with fellow members. But perhaps the most important benefit is the satisfaction gained from making a real difference in the world. Land Mine Removal Improving the quality of life through financial support for removal of landmines and unexploded ordnance in rural war-torn regions throughout the world. Land is cleared of mines so that civilians can safely return to their homes, farms, and everyday life without the threat of unexploded remnants of war. PolioPlus, Rotary’s most ambitious program to date, focuses on global immunization efforts and has played a leadership role with the World Health Organization, CDC, and UNICEF in bringing the world to the brink of polio eradication. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has contributed US$355 million to Rotary to support PolioPlus activities.
