Carterhatch Junior School A weekly newsletter from the Headteacher Issue 8: 6th November 2015 School website: www.carterhatch-jun.enfield.sch.uk Egyptian day Miss Savva, Year 5 leader writes ... “Year 5 experienced an exciting day last half term when they were able to dress up as an Egyptian. It was fantastic to see so many children making such an effort with their outfits. We had many mummies, Tutankhamuns, Pharaohs and Cleopatras on the day. We started our day dancing like an Egyptian and later the children made Egyptian jewellery, followed by writing their names in hieroglyphics on papyrus paper and making their very own canopic jar out of clay. Year 5 had an enjoyable day as well as increasing their knowledge of the Egyptian era. The children said it was entertaining to see their teachers and friends dressed up. It made it a memorable day!” Lost property Please ensure that your child’s name is clearly marked on all uniform and school bags. We have a number of unclaimed items in lost property. Also, please check your child’s uniform to make sure they have not taken someone else’s by mistake. Please could you help? Please speak to your child’s teacher. There are consequences at school if his homework is not handed in and I would suggest you let him know you will follow these through at home by taking away things he likes to play with or to do. Be firm and stick to your decision. When he does do his homework without argument, give him lots of praise and small rewards. I can help you with a reward chart which may help encourage him too.
