Clients are referred to QIRCH due to a combination of health access issues and multiple, complex co-morbidities (e.g. physical, psychological, socio-emotional). Volunteer GPs provide a bulk billing service and interpreter services are available. QIRCH takes over full care of the client for the short term (rather than having two treating GPs), and then links or refers back the client to their community GP for ongoing general health care. People seeking onshore protection and who therefore may not have access to Medicare (e.g. refugee claimants, temporary protection visa holders) are automatically accepted as clients at QIRCH.
