The daily added, a new crisis has surfaced in the Ministry of Information following the referral of some artistes for investigation for taking up two simultaneous jobs without permission. Police are investigating. ‘Khairan City still lacks amenities’ By Khalid Al-Hattab Al-Seyassah Staff KUWAIT CITY, Sept 5: Members of AlKhairan Voluntarily Council has affirmed that the residential city still lacks governmental buildings and services, especially the educational and security facilities despite the availability of infrastructure for these buildings. Council member Ali Al-Hoty disclosed that in a meeting held recently at the diwaniya of the popular campaign, “Nater Bait” (“Waiting for a House”), the officials responsible for the operation of governmental facilities in the educational sec- tor had earlier promised to open the schools this September. However, due to the rampant stealing of electric cables from those schools, the opening was postponed until the end of the year. He asked the Ministry of Interior to activate the security center in the area to protect the residents. He said Kuwait Municipality promised to issue construction licenses to the beneificiaries next week to speed up the construction process, especially since approval has been obtained from the concerned authorities. He confirmed the council has taken concrete steps to provide the construction needs like vehicles and water tankers. Sources say the artistes were referred for investigation after activating Article 25 of the Civil Service Law which forbids taking up two jobs at the same time, an issue which has provoked anger and resentment in dramatic circles. Some sources said if the Ministry of Information is bent on applying the law it will result in mass resignations of many artistes in an expression of resentment. Meanwhile, the daily added, Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Sheikh Salman AlHmoud received in his office recently artistes Hayat Al-Fahd, Suad Abdullah and President of the Kuwaiti Union of Artists Nabil Al-Failakawi and his deputy Tariq Ali and others to discuss the problems plaguing artistes and look for a mechanism to solve problems. Minister had ordered the formation of a committee comprising members from the ministry and the union to discuss several issues related to the technical work to avoid any problems in the future. For his part, Tariq Al-Ali mentioned his referral and that of artiste Dawoud Hussein and his colleague Intisar Al-Sharrah to investigation because they are holding two jobs is untrue and called in inaccurate reporting by the media. In other news, Eng Ahmad AlHamad has criticized the Ministry of Information for action taken against what he called the giants in the arena of arts - Abdulhussein Abdulreda, Hayat Al-Fahd, Suad Abdullah and Tariq Al-Ali. He said this manner of dealing with those artistes reflect the low intellectual strategy of the Ministry of Information which instead of throwing its weight behind these artistes have acted against their interests thus harming the art movement. He went to say if the ministry is keen on applying the law it should not come as bolt from the blue. He asserted on the need to rehabilitate the Kuwaiti artistes saying they represent the Kuwaiti people. The daily quoting sources said the Kuwaiti was apparently caught roaming naked on a street in Thailand and had to be overpowered and taken into custody because he refused to wear clothes. The clip shows the man being handcuffed. Breast cancer, diet in focus NBK health program for staff KUWAIT CITY, Sept 5: National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) organizes a health awareness program for its employees. The program aims to increase the employees’ awareness towards avoiding health problems, including breast cancer awareness, dental checkup, consultations and advice in order to raise awareness about their health. “The health awareness program comes as part of a comprehensive agenda aiming at building up a healthy lifestyle among NBK employees focusing on raising awareness on serious health threats”, said Yaqoub Al Baqer, NBK Public Relations Officer. Al Baqer added “The Yaqoub Al-Baqer Health awareness program is held under the supervision and direction of specialized doctors who constantly follow up with the employees and monitor their progress.” This program includes breast cancer awareness that aims at protecting female staff against breast cancer by encouraging them to go through medical checkups. The nutrition campaign offers a diet plan to achieve the perfect weight for each employee and raising awareness about serious threats caused by being overweight, in addition to the awareness day on eye care, examination of healthy eyes and the treatment of eye diseases. Personnel from the Criminal Evidences Department have lifted fingerprints to identify the culprit. ❑ ❑ ❑ Asian falls in manhole: An Asian who fell in a manhole at an unidentified location has been admitted to the Adan Hospital, reports Al-Shahed daily. The daily quoting security sources said the man was taken to the hospital by paramedics. ❑ ❑ ❑ Miraculous escape: A Kuwaiti had a miraculous escape from death following a traffic accident in a suburb of Sa’ad AlAbdullah, reports Al-Anba daily. The citizen lost control of his car, hit the pavement and the car overturned several times and fell below in a tunnel on the side of the road. He has been admitted to a hospital with serious injuries.
