FOURTH WEEK OF LENT
MARCH 15,
2015
OUR PARISH MISSION: By the grace of God, we, the people of the Roman Catholic Parish of Saint Frances
Cabrini, firmly rooted in the Apostolic Tradition of the Church and the Holy Scriptures, are called to continue the mission of Jesus Christ to build up the Kingdom of God in the world through our faithful living according to His teachings,
our proclamation of the Gospel by word and deed, and the worship of God in our private prayer as well as in our public celebration of the Sacraments. We have the strength for everything through Him who empowers us!

REFLECTION ON THE LITURGY OF THE WORD
C
atholic tradition calls this Fourth Sunday of Lent Laetare, that is, “Rejoice” Sunday, after the first Latin
words of the ancient entrance antiphon which bids us all
to be joyful and exult, especially those who have been
mourning. Although sorrowing for our sins we respond to
the Church’s call to rejoice finding our joy in the Gospel’s
proclamation of God’s love for the world. We see this
love manifested in the gift of God’s Son, who, by Word
and Eucharistic Sacrifice, comes to bring us eternal life.
The preview of Easter joy that resonates through the Liturgy shines with special radiance as we read in John’s Gospel the verse that is at the heart of the Christian message,
John 3:16: For God so loved the world that he gave his
only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not
perish but might have eternal life.” we are loved unconditionally and everlastingly by God. St. Paul tells us we
are “God’s handiwork’. The Old Testament covenant story bids us see all things, even historical disasters and human tragedies, as part of God’s saving plan. We need to
see the most unlikely people as instruments of God’s will.
Let us open our hearts to the joyfully transforming power
of today’s Scriptures.

RIBUTE TO ST. JOSEPH: O glorious St. Joseph, you were chosen by God to be the foster father of Jesus, the most pure spouse of Mary ever Virgin and the head of the Holy
Family. You are chosen as the heavenly patron and protector of the Church. It is with great
confidence that I implore your powerful assistance for the whole Church on earth. Protect in a
special manner all who labor for souls amid the trials and tribulations of this life and grant
that all peoples of the world may follow Christ and the Church.
ear St. Joseph, accept the offering of myself which I now make to you. I dedicate myself
to your service, that you may ever be my father, my protector and my guide in the way of
salvation. Obtain for me great purity of heart and a fervent love for the spiritual life. May all
my actions, after your example, be directed to the greater glory of God, in union with the Divine Heart of Jesus, the Immaculate Heart of Mary and your own Paternal Heart. Pray for us,

IRISH BLESSINGS & SAYINGS
IN HONOR OF ST. PATRICK
May the Irish hills
caress you;
may her lakes and
rivers bless you;
may the luck of the
Irish enfold you;
may the blessings of
St Patrick behold you.
May your blessings outnumber
The shamrocks that grow,
And may trouble avoid you
Wherever you go.
Never iron a four-leaf clover,
because you don't want to
press your luck.
