Message from the
Chair of Alberta Association of Career Colleges
Every year, more and more Albertans see our province’s Career Colleges as
the right pathway to the profession of their choice. Career Colleges are seen
as a smart alternative for vocational training with their ability to adapt more
quickly to the market place, offer more attention to their students with smaller
classes and train on relevant skills in a shorter time frame.
Alberta’s Career Colleges offer licensed certificate and diploma programs in
many areas not limited to: Aviation/Aviation Technical Services, Healthcare,
Computerized Office Procedures, Drafting, Legal, Hospitality, Massage,
Esthetics, Fashion and Art design.
Throughout this booklet you can read on several institutes and the wide array
of programs they offer. You can see the unique benefits of the various colleges
and their curriculum.
Alberta is full of opportunity and prosperity for the technically skilled individual
who can match their knowledge and training with employer needs. Often, it
is not required to attend a college for multiple years to obtain the appropriate
skillset to qualify for these opportunities. Shorter term, accelerated vocational
training may be one of the biggest benefits Career Colleges have to offer
Albertans.
Whatever the field of interest, the most important part of attending a college is
graduating and then finding that career in your professional area of expertise.
This is yet another area where our province’s Career Colleges shine, as seen in
the statistics below.
Alberta Enterprise and Advanced Education reported for the 2012-2013 period
that the average graduation rate was 81% and the job Placement Rate
was 90% for the over 14,000 Albertans who chose a Career College as their
pathway to success.
The achievements of Alberta’s Career Colleges are due in part to the
additional attention we give every one of our students who are encouraged
by routinely monitored attendance and supportive checks on academic
progress. These methods consistently aid students in structuring the successful
completion of their studies and training.
Alberta Association of Career Colleges encourages the use of this booklet
to discover the opportunities and benefits of the institutes featured within.
Whether you are just beginning to explore options, or are keen to get started,
do not hesitate to directly contact the Career College of your choice for more
information.
