Newsletter 37 Wednesday 16th November Dear Families, Family Christmas Concert On Friday November 27th we are holding a Family Christmas Concert, led by well-known singer /song writer, Peter Kearney. The Concert will be in St Francis Xavier’s Hall from 6.30pm to 8pm. During the school day all of the children will attend a singing session with Peter to prepare for the concert. Three groups will be arranged from Prep to Year 6. On the night of the concert the children will sit in their group and will be called up onto the stage to perform their part of the Christmas story. This will be a celebration of the true story of Christmas, so we are encouraging all children/families to attend. Please return your attendance sheet as soon as possible 2015 family Christmas event The P&F will be providing a free sausage sizzle before the performance from 5pm until 6pm, BYO soft drinks; for catering purposes, please return the BBQ slip to the Office or text your details to Lynda Peak on 0416 012 830. There is no food or drink in the hall. The children/parents must assemble in their places in the Hall at 6pm as the Concert will start promptly at 6.30pm. Parents will be seated on chairs in the hall and the children will be on the floor at the front in their three groups. This will be a very lovely school Christmas celebration so I encourage all families to attend; there could even be a “special” visitor. School fee statements School fee statements will be sent home by email to families with fees in arrears. All Term 4 fees are due by Friday November 20 th. If you have a Direct Debit arrangement in place, please disregard this notice. If you need to discuss your fees, please make an appointment with me as soon as possible. St Catherine’s School Board St Catherine’s School Board will meet tomorrow night at 7pm in the Community Room. Parents and Friends Annual General Meeting I would like to thank the 6 parents who attended the Parents and Friends Annual General Meeting last night. I would like to thank the Executive committee Jo Riley, Julie Hemus and Bea Seguel for their leadership this year. I encourage a lot more parents to join the General Committee to support the Executive and to support the new Principal. biannual Country Fair On March 19 th, 2016 we will hold our biannual Country Fair. The first term next year is very short, only eight weeks long and in the lead up to the Country Fair we hold several casual clothes Fridays, where children bring a forfeit for a stall, eg lollies or second hand books; as the term is short, we will run out of Fridays! Therefore, this Friday November 20th, we will hold a casual clothes day and the forfeit is for the Vintage Clothing stall. The children can bring adult/children’s clothes which are clean and in good condition, shoes, handbags, jewellery, scarves, hats or fascinators would be welcome. We do not want people’s junk, rather their treasure to make the stall a success. oRIENTATION DAY 2016 HELPERS NEEDED PLEASE! If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated – it is just to help new families size their uniform. NO dealing with payments. Advent Entering into Hope and Joyful Expectation Text: John L Bell Not the powerful, not the privileged, Not the famous in the land, but the no-ones and the needy Were the first to hold God’s hand. Not a well established family With an heirloom christening shawl, But a homeless, wandering couple Parented the Lord of All. Not, at first, to little children, Not to those who faith burned bright, But to adults, stalled in darkness, Angels brought God’s love and light. God, determined to be different From the standards we think best, In his choice of friends and family, Lets forgotten folk be blessed. Not obsessed by our achievements, Worldly wealth or family tree, May we, in and with Gods chosen, Find our fondest pedigree. Peter Kearney – Advent and Christmas : November 27th we are very lucky to have Peter Kearney – composer and singer – coming to work with the children during the day.
