There is a special blessing in
this feast as we celebrate the
unfathomable love of Jesus for
us. The message of mercy is
that God loves all of us. No
matter how great our sins, His
mercy is greater. We must call
on Him with trust, receive His
mercy and let it flow through
us to others. By doing this, all
will come to share His joy.
Please join us at 3:00 pm today.
Fr. Coleman will reflect on the
Feast of Divine Mercy. We will
recite the Chaplet of Divine
Mercy followed by an exposition of the Blessed Sacrament
and Benediction.

Jesus had an impressive genealogy. He
descended from Seth, Adam and Eve’s
third son. His ancestors include Methuselah, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob,
David, and Solomon, to name a few. He
was the 30th generation from the first
humans. The Jews still await the
Messiah from the house of David (from
which Jesus is descended). On the table
today, find material about Jesus. He was
human and he had emotions. He died at
33 years old. He changed history.

might He be inviting you to

Grief Ministry
Grief Ministry: Are you suffering from a broken heart? Grief
can disguise itself as insomnia, digestive problems, depression
or high blood pressure. It takes time to heal
from grief. Consider attending an 8-week
grief workshop at St. Elizabeth Seton in
Pleasanton from April 12-May 31, 7:30
p.m. Limited space available. Call Mary
Hagerty at (925) 846-5377 to sign up. ($15
donation requested). Deb Weber and
Denise Clark are two grief ministers from St. Isidore who will
be serving at the workshop. They are available for limited oneon-one help. Questions? Call Denise at (925) 719-2348.
Dear Parishioners,
In January, over 400 elementary students from throughout the San Ramon Valley participated in the 8th
Annual Street Smarts Storybook Poster Contest. The storybook is distributed in our community as a means to
educate children about bicycle and pedestrian safety. Street Smarts is a traffic safety program in the San
Ramon Valley. Its mission is to change pedestrian, cyclist and driver behavior.
Congratulations to St. Isidore School, 5th grader, Allie Rouse, whose illustration was featured in the final storybook!
Sincerely,
Danielle Kehrig, 6th Grade Teacher

Bible Study Spring Brunch
The rain outside couldn't dampen the feel
that Spring is in the air at St. Isidore. A
wonderful wrap up of our Epic

in this study. We learned so much!
All the tables looked beautiful and unique
just like our members. A special thanks
goes out to Denise and Robyn for orchestrating the brunch.

APRIL has many significant days and the month is dedicated to The Holy Eucharist –The Blessed Sacrament
“I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, & whoever believes in me will never
thirst."
(John 6: 35)
Take out your Bible, especially on Holy Thursday, and read about the institution of the Holy Eucharist by Jesus,
himself. Begin with the “Bread of Life Discourse” (John 6, 22-59). Then read the accounts of the “Last Supper”
in the other three Gospels (Matthew 26: 26-30, Mark 14: 22-26, Luke 22: 14-20). Then read St. Paul’s Letter
to the Corinthians (Corinthians 11: 23-32), explaining to them the meaning and essence of the Holy Eucharist. This month, why not make a special effort to spend some time in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament?
It doesn't need to be long or elaborate: you can start simply by making the Sign of the Cross and uttering a short profession of
faith, such as "My Lord and my God!" as you pass a Catholic church. Better yet, stop in!
PALM SUNDAY. We celebrate with joy Our Lord's triumphant entrance into Jerusalem where He was welcomed
by crowds worshiping Him and laying down palm leaves before Him. It also marks the beginning of Holy Week,
with the greatest tragedy and sorrow of the year.
MAUNDY THURSDAY is a common and popular name for Holy Thursday, the first day of the Easter Triduum, the final three days of Lent before Easter. Coming at the high point of Holy Week or Passiontide,
Maundy Thursday commemorates Christ's Last Supper, at which He instituted the Eucharist, the Mass, and
Maundy Thursday gets its name from the Latin word mandatum, which means
the priesthood.
"commandment" from the Latin first word of the phrase Mandatum novum da vobis ut diligatis invicem sicut
dilexi vos ("A new commandment I give unto you, that you love one another; as I have loved you"), the
statement by Jesus in the Gospel of John (13:34) by which He explained to the Apostles the significance of
His action of washing their feet near the end of the Last Supper, after Judas had departed.
GOOD FRIDAY. The entire Church fixes her gaze on the Cross at Calvary. Each member of the Church tries to
understand at what cost Christ has won our redemption. In the solemn ceremonies of Good Friday, in the Adoration of
the Cross, in the chanting of the “Reproaches,” in the reading of the Passion, and in receiving the pre-consecrated
host, we unite ourselves to our Savior, and we contemplate our own death to sin in the death of our Lord. The Church
is stripped of its ornaments, the altar bare, and with the door of the empty tabernacle standing open, as if in mourning.
HOLY SATURDAY, also known as the Easter Vigil, the day before Easter Sunday, is the final day of
the Triduum, the three days during which we commemorate Christ's Passion. It is the last day of Holy Week in
which Christians prepare for Easter. It commemorates the day that Jesus Christ's body laid in the tomb.
EASTER SUNDAY (Buona Pasqua!) is the principal feast of the ecclesiastical year commemorating the Resurrection of Christ, the corner-stone upon which faith is built; it is also
the oldest feast of the Church, as old as Christianity, the connecting link between the
Old and New Testaments. Easter is not only the greatest Christian feast; it is the fulfillment of
our faith as Christians. Through His Death, Christ destroyed our bondage to sin; through His
Resurrection, He brought us the promise of new life, both in Heaven and on earth. His own
prayer, "Thy Kingdom come, on earth as it is in Heaven," begins to be fulfilled on Easter Sunday.
EASTER MONDAY in Italy (La Pasquetta). The Monday following Easter, la Pasquetta is also a holiday throughout
Italy. On Easter Monday, some cities in Italy hold dances, free concerts, or unusual games often involving eggs. In the
Umbrian hill town of Panicale, cheese is the star. Ruzzolone is played by rolling huge wheels of cheese, weighing
about 4 kilos, around the village walls. The object is to get your cheese around the course using the fewest number of
strokes. Following the cheese contest, there is a band in the piazza and, of course, wine. Read more about the town of
Panicale. Easter Monday is a time to gather with friends and have fun.

Classic Club Pot Luck Dinner
Friday, March 16th
Community Building Leisure Activities for Seniors at St. Isidore Church
Fr. Gerry started the dinner with a prayer before the
meal. The tables were decorated in a St. Patrick’s Day
Theme with Irish Jokes on each table. There was lots of
laughter. People wore their green tops, hats, earrings.
You name it. They had it on. We sang “Happy Birthday” to those who had March birthdays. The food was
plentiful, and scrumptious. Everyone had an excellent
time. We had a great turn out despite the rain.
We invite all adult parishioners, couples or singles, ages
55 and older, to join us for our monthly potluck dinner,
third Friday of every month.
Please plan to bring an appetizer, salad, entrée
(precooked),
or a dessert to share, as well as your appeO! Cad is am iontach a bhí againn. O! What a great time we had.
tite. Please do not bring FROZEN FOOD as we can
only keep your food warm until serving time. Wine,
beer, and non-alcoholic beverages are supplied, as well as the paper goods. We serve beverages and
hors’doeuvres starting at 6:00 PM.
PLEASE NOTE: We supply the beverages and paper goods. Because cost of living is going up, and expenses for the dinner are also increasing, we will now charge $3.00 per person at the door to help cover
these expenses. If you choose to bring wine, it does not count as a dish or the $3.00 charge. If you have any
questions, please call Rosalia at 925-837-9486.

Guatemala. This trip will enable our teens to enter into another culture and language, and
more specifically, the lives of orphaned and abandoned children. You don’t need to know
how to speak Spanish. You just need a desire to engage with the children.
