Instructions For Home Administration of
Benadryl
*If your pet is less than 20 lbs., or of a breed prone to
allergic reactions [Chihuahua, Dachshund, Boston terrier,
Maltese, Poodle, Pekinese], please give Benadryl orally to
your pet 30 minutes prior to bringing your pet in for
vaccination. Please use one of the following two formulas
to calculate the dose. Choose which formula to use based
on whether you will be using liquid Benadryl or Benadryl
25 mg tablets.
1. Liquid Benadryl [12.5 mg / 5 ml’s]: pet’s weight in lbs.
divided by 2.5 = ml’s to be given.
[i.e. - 8lb dog (8 ÷ 2.5 = 3.2 ml’s)]
2. Benadryl 25 mg tablets: pet’s weight in pounds
divided by 25 = number of tablets to be given
[i.e. - 13lb dog (13 ÷ 25 = .52)] Give a ½ tablet.
*Please note that 1 teaspoon=5 ml’s and 1
tablespoon=15 ml’s.
