USC Caruso Catholic Scholars Fund
Scholarship Application
The USC Caruso Catholic Scholars Fund is designed to provide financial support to incoming students as
they begin at USC, continue their commitment to service and live their faith each day. The Fund will
award scholarships to first year or transfer, undergraduate, full time students (a minimum of 12 units
per semester) enrolled at USC.
All applicants must:



Be of the Roman Catholic Faith
Show leadership, service, and practice faith in their community, parish, and or high school
Demonstrate academic excellence with a minimum 3.5 GPA
Preference for the scholarships shall be given to students from inner city Catholic high schools, but all
who meet the above criteria are encouraged to apply.
Recipients of the scholarship shall be selected by the Board of Advisors of the USC Caruso Catholic
Center in conjunction with leadership of the Catholic Center based on this application.
By completing the following application, I understand that if I am awarded a scholarship, it will be
payable to me upon proof of full-time enrollment in the fall term at USC. I understand that in order to
receive the funds I must participate in activities and events at the Catholic Center (minimum of 15
credits per semester) based on the attached form. I also understand that the funds will be dispersed in
two lump sums of $1,000 per semester, and the second disbursement will be withheld if all 15 credit
requirements are not met. Additionally, I realize that I must also submit a thank you note to the
scholarship donor(s). If I fail to complete my credits or submit my thank you note, I will forfeit the Spring
portion of my scholarship award.
I fully understand the deadline for this application is August 4, 2014, and that the contents of this
application are CONFIDENTIAL. I realize that in order for my application to be considered, I must email a
complete copy of it to scholarships@catholictrojan.org NO LATER THAN August 4, 2014.

Council retains the right to make program rule changes at any time. All judging decisions are final.
Scholarship Credit Program
Each scholarship recipient is required to earn a minimum of 15 credits each semester. These can be
earned by participating and volunteering at USC Caruso Catholic Center sponsored events. The value of
the events will be determined by the USC Caruso Catholic Center staff. An approved signature must be
shown for each event to earn credits.

Liturgy participant (lector, Eucharistic Minister, gift bearer, altar server, choir member, etc)
