The Department of Biology, Chemistry and Medical Technology 1. Northern Caribbean University is located in the rural parish of cool Manchester. The beautiful grounds and quiet campus environment encourage study and creativity. 2. The Department of Biology, Chemistry, and Medical Technology is actively engaged in teaching and research, at both the faculty and student level. 3. The graduate programme in Biology is administered from the BrownWestney Basic Science Complex. 4. The Brown-Westney Science and the VicBern Laboratories provide physical facilities with modern equipment which are periodically revised and upgraded for research. Library facilities with access to electronic journals are available at the Hiram S. Walters Resource Centre, located on the campus. 5. Opportunities for collaborative research with local and foreign institutions are available. 6. Several enthusiastic faculty members, experts in their specified fields, are available to instruct, to mentor and to direct research. 7. Incoming class is relatively small allowing for individual attention, class and cohesiveness. ADMISSION TO THE PROGRAMME Entrance to the programme requires an approved bachelor’s degree with adequate preparation in biology and chemistry. DURATION OF PROGRAMME Based upon the curriculum the duration is 2 – 2 ½ years. The first part of the programme will be completed at Northern Caribbean University. CAREER OPPORTUNITIES Career opportunities for graduates of the programme include positions in government industries, educational institutions, private sector businesses and research facilities.
