Dolby Digital vs. Stereo and Dolby Pro-Logic
Stereo Sound
•
•
•
2-channels (right and left), that provide separation of sounds to a right
and left speaker located on a stereo television, or home stereo system
Stereo sound can be achieved by using coaxial cable to a stereo television,
or connecting the Right and Left Audio RCA Cables to a Stereo or Home
Theater A/V Receiver
All Bell ExpressVu programming is provided in 2-channel Sound
Dolby Pro-Logic
•
Dolby Pro-Logic is 4-channel sound with three channels of sound in the
front (left and right for music and effects and center for dialog) and a
surround channel for effects and atmospheres
Dolby Pro-Logic is achieved by connecting the Right and Left Audio RCA
Cables to a Dolby Pro-Logic Home Theater A/V Receiver
All Bell ExpressVu programming can be heard in Dolby Pro- Logic if
the source is broadcasting with this capability (provided it is
properly connected to a Dolby Pro-Logic Home Theater Receiver).

Dolby Digital (AC-3)
•
•
•
Dolby Digital (AC-3) provides six channels of crystal clear digital surround sound. Left, center and right
channels in front provide the clear positioning of dialogue. Separate or “discrete” left and right
surround channels on the side and the rear immerse you, the viewer, in the film with
atmospherics and ambient sounds and a low frequency (subwoofer) channel contributes extra punch to
action and special effects sequences.
In order to get Dolby Digital (AC-3) sound, you must connect an optical cable from the AC-3 Optical
output (located on the 4700, 5100, 5200, 5800, 5900, 6000, 6100, 9200 and 4500 AC-3 RF adapter) to
a Dolby Digital (AC-3) Home Theater Receiver.
Only selected Bell ExpressVu programming and Vu movies are available in Dolby Digital
AC-3
