IS is developing script, providing design services and managing fabrication/installation of exhibits for a restored mill built in 1750. Interpretive panels will orient visitors to the key features of the mill’s history, its associated technology that changed over its 250 year lifespan and its related social history. [Anticipated completion: September 2016]. Long-Range Interpretive Plan for the Carter G. Woodson Home National Historic Site, Washington, DC. IS is developing a long-range plan for the Carter G. Woodson Home which was the residence of Dr. Woodson from 1922 until 1950. This National Park Service site served as a center for his pioneering work on scholarly research of African American history and his groundbreaking educational programs that promoted an appreciation of African American culture and history throughout the nation and beyond. [Anticipated completion: June 2016]. Facilitated interpretive planning projects: • Implementation of Interpretive Master Plan for the Fox-Wisconsin Heritage Parkway (FWHP), Wisconsin. Upon completion and board acceptance of an interpretive master plan prepared for the FWHP in 2013 for a 283 mile long heritage corridor, IS facilitated a two-year start-up effort designed to implement historical and natural resource interpretive message delivery. IS created a field office in Portage, WI to work with local partner sites to build heritage capacity along the waterway. The implementation process led to the creation of a comprehensive planning document, including a “gap analysis” of existing conditions, as part of an application for National Water Trail status from the National Park Service [Completed October 2015]. • Long-Range Interpretive Plan for the Ice Age National Scenic Trail, Wisconsin. The plan is designed to set new standards for interpreting the nearly 1,200 mile Ice Age National Scenic Trail, established in 1980. It establishes a prototype for specifying media delivery at the state’s many lakes, river valleys, gently rolling hills, and ridges. The trail tells the story of Wisconsin as it existed 15,000 years ago when much of North America lay under a huge glacier. Under an NPS IDIQ contract, Harpers Ferry Center. [Completed December 2013]. • Interpretive Master Plan for the Fox-Wisconsin Heritage Parkway, Wisconsin. Developed IMP for heritage area that traces the route of Marquette and Joliet along a waterway that has been in continuous human use for more than 10,000 years. The parkway is 283 miles long, and encompasses heritage sites, abundant natural resources, and outstanding recreational opportunities. The 18 month project included targeted site analysis by Ken Saiki Design, landscape architects from Madison WI and preservation architecture consultation by Cornerstone Preservation of Cross Plains, WI. The project followed the NPS interpretive planning process model, enhanced by IS. [Completed January 2013]. • Long Range Interpretive Plan – for Brown v.
