The Tiger Necessities - A Look at the Day-to-Day Needs of Your Student

Learn about all the campus services that make your student’s life as a tiger easier!
Information will be provided about the Tiger Card (LSU ID), LSU Dining, LSU Bookstore,
TigerCASH, vending, printing, laundry, as well as living and parking on campus and as a
commuter student. You will also hear about LSU partnerships with Campus Federal Credit
Union, Cox Communications, Verizon and much more!

Academic Overview

This is a central focus of orientation for parents. This session will include a review of
placement information, CATS, academic policies, grading procedures, important dates and an
overview of a semester at LSU.

The Office of the University Registrar and You!

This session will provide an overview of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of
1974 (FERPA) and how it affects parental access to student records. Also, you will get an
overview of other student services available through the Office of the University Registrar.

You will receive information on applying for financial aid, grants, loans, work study and
scholarships. You will also learn about the TOPS scholarships, financial aid awarding procedures
and how financial aid works with LSU’s billing system.

Strategies for Achieving an Outstanding GPA

Learn proven strategies you can share to ease your student’s transition to LSU. The Center for
Academic Success will share tips for effective learning, smart time management and using the
free academic resources at LSU.

Four Year Career Plan

Successful careers don’t just happen! Learn what steps your student can take each year to
explore interests, choose an exciting major, find a great career that fits, try out that career and
gain experience. Finding a dream job is just the final step in the Four-Year Career Plan.

Safety and Security at LSU

The safety of all members of the LSU community is a shared responsibility and of the utmost
importance. This session will include tips and information from the LSU Police Department on
how to keep yourself and your belongings safe and secure at LSU. We will discuss Emergency
Text Messaging and the “See Something, Say Something” public awareness campaign.

Veterans, Service Members, Survivors and Dependents Session

This welcome brief will introduce you to the services and people that will help you succeed at
LSU. You will also meet the VA Certifying Official, Coordinator of Veteran and Military Student
Services and members of the Student Veterans of LSU organization.

All fees for the summer sessions are due by 4:30 pm on Friday, June 5, 2015. Fee bills will not be
mailed.
Payments can be made online via the student’s myLSU account with a check or credit card or in
person at the Bursar’s Office.
All students must be sure to click the “complete registration” button if they have a $0 balance.
