ANGELS ARE FOR REAL:
Inspiring True Stories and Biblical Answers
by Judith MacNutt
Jacksonville, FL: Throughout the age’s angels have been messengers,
protectors, healers, comforters and more to the people of God. It’s when we
begin to grasp the importance of angels to God – and to our very own life –
we can better understand God's power and His extraordinary love for us.
In Angels Are For Real (Chosen Books/February 2012), Judith
MacNutt, psychotherapist and co-founder of Christian Healing Ministries,
Inc. in Jacksonville, FL, explores the intriguing and sometimes mysterious
topic of angels. Recounting inspiring true-life stories and miraculous
interactions, MacNutt reveals what the Bible says about these heavenly
beings, and offers insight into the spiritual
realm.
“God created angelic beings before He formed the earth or
created humans, as a separate class from humans and they
possess higher levels of wisdom, authority and holiness than
humans. Their desire is to serve as messengers for the living
God—not to be worshipped,” says MacNutt.
“Angels are spiritual
creatures, created by God
without a body, for the
service of Christendom and
the church,” Reformer
Martin Luther
So why is it important to learn about angels? According to MacNutt, one purpose is to teach
our families, especially our children. Another is to encourage people who are struggling, to
let them know they have a spiritual companion with them on their earthly journey and that
they are not alone. Our angelic companions reflect God’s great love for us.
Angels Are For Real offers biblical insight and many stories of miraculous encounters,
revealing what the Bible says about:

What are fallen angels? How can they influence our lives?
Biblical references to angels guarding, rescuing and strengthening those in need.
Holy Scripture details angelic intervention in the lives of ordinary people including Daniel,
Moses, Jacob, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, Elijah, Hagar, John the Baptist, Elisha,
Peter, Paul and John.
“Angels are essential in ushering in the Kingdom. Their dwelling place is in the heavens, but
their ministry under God’s direction takes place throughout the earth,” says MacNutt.
“Angels also advance God’s Kingdom under the direction of the Holy Spirit by engaging in
spiritual warfare with the enemy.”
MacNutt believes when we embrace the ministry of the holy angels, we begin to comprehend
the loving care of our heavenly Father, who created these majestic, powerful beings to be our
companions throughout our earthly journey.

Notable Quotes from Angels Are For Real
The ring became a symbol to me of Dad’s love and of our family’s healing. The assurance
of his love, sealed forever in my heart was covering the deep wounds I had carried since
my teens. I realized I had to find the courage to surrender my painful loss to God and
allow Him to enable me to move beyond my sadness. I vacillated between surrender and
sorrow. Loss affects us in this way. I would be giving up my father’s love. (pgs. 18-19)
Out of that marvelous, life-altering experience, the greatest longing of my heart was
fulfilled – to know and to be known intimately by my Abba, my Daddy. When we
embrace the ministry of the holy angels, we begin to comprehend the loving care of our
heavenly Father. He created these majestic, powerful beings to be our companions
throughout our earthly journey. (pg. 23)
The angels’ emotions are not impaired by sin. Angels’ emotions function perfectly, the
way God intended. Angels are also humble, obedient, patient and pure. They possess a
fierce loyalty to God and long to serve Him by obediently ushering in His Kingdom.
Angels were given a free will by God, allowing them the freedom to choose and to
determine their direction in life. (pg. 31)
Angels are divine intermediaries between heaven and earth. They dwell in the heavens
and carry out their assignments on earth and in heaven – according to their
classification. The angels of the throne also worship and praise God constantly while
guarding His presence, His holiness and His sovereignty. This rank is composed of
seraphim, cherubim and thrones. This grouping has direct contact with God, faithfully
remaining in His presence. (pg. 32)
The second group or tier of angels is comprised of dominions, powers and authorities.
They are involved in the physical universe. The third order consists of principalities,
archangels and angels. They are primarily involved in human affairs, and they interact
with humans and function as guardians of individuals or groups. (pgs. 32-33)
Let’s consider the angel’s primary responsibilities: (pgs.33-42)
To return with Jesus
To act as guardians, to protect
To guard the Church
To deliver from evil
To execute judgment
To bring healing
To give the Law
To gather the elect and carry us through
To exalt, worship and glorify God
death
To act as God’s messengers
Jesus disarmed every enemy of our souls when He chose to die on Calvary’s cross and
make a public spectacle of them. He flushes the demons out of their hiding places in the
darkened recesses of people’s hearts and forces them in to the light, thereby triumphing
over them. (pg. 180)
The marvelous good news is that we have a Savior who brings His healing love to these
emotional wounds, thereby freeing us from demonic attachments. God has empowered
Christians to take authority against evil in the name of Jesus. He has advised us to shield
ourselves with His protection. Once you become a Christian, you have the spiritual
authority to pray for protection from the demonic realm. (pgs. 182, 194)
