ORANGE BOWL CELEBRATES 2011 CREATIVE
ART CONTEST AT DORAL ACADEMY
Miami Lakes, FL (www.orangebowl.org) – The Orange Bowl visited Doral Academy on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 to
celebrate the school’s participation in the 2011 Baptist Health South Florida Orange Bowl Creative Art Contest presented by
Chipotle Mexican Grill. Doral Academy won a special Orange Bowl pep-rally for submitting 265 entries into the creative art
contest, the most of any participating school. It is the second year in a row Doral Academy has submitted the most entries in the
Baptist Health South Florida Orange Bowl Creative Art Contest presented by Chipotle Mexican Grill.
The theme of this past year’s Baptist Health South Florida Orange Bowl Creative Art Contest presented by Chipotle Mexican Grill
was, “Feed your body. Fuel your game.” Vannessa Montiel (Homestead Senior High) won the grand prize. Montiel’s winning
design was one of thousands of entries the Orange Bowl received in its creative art contest. During September and October
2011, the Orange Bowl visited 29 schools in Miami-Dade and Broward promoting its creative art contest. For winning the 2011
Baptist Health South Florida Orange Bowl Creative Art Contest presented by Chipotle Mexican Grill, Montiel won a $1,500
savings bond provided by the Orange Bowl and Bank of America, free burritos for a year provided by Chipotle Mexican Grill, free
haircuts for a year provided by Sport Clips Haircuts and two tickets to the 2012 Discover Orange Bowl Game between West
Virginia and Clemson. Additionally, Montiel was recognized in an on-field presentation during the 2012 Discover Orange Bowl
Game, and her artwork was featured in a full page, color advertisement in the 2012 Discover Orange Bowl game program.
In all, 13 students received savings bonds provided by the Orange Bowl and Bank of America for finishing first, second or third in
one of the four eligible categories (grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12).
In 2011, the Orange Bowl, in partnership with Bank of America, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida, MetroPCS and Sport Clips
Haircuts, joined title sponsor Baptist Health South Florida and presenting sponsor Chipotle Mexican Grill to bring the Orange
Bowl program to schools in the South Florida community.
