NursingCAS
In March 2010, AACN partnered with Liaison
International to launch NursingCAS, the centralized
application
service
for
nursing.
Through
NursingCAS, prospective students (currently there
are over 70,000 in the system) may research and
apply to diploma, associate degree, baccalaureate,
master’s, and doctoral programs offered by
participating nursing schools. Last cycle, 38% of
NursingCAS applicants were from minority
backgrounds, and 15% were men. Students benefit
from using NursingCAS because they only need to
complete one online application and prepare one set
of corresponding admissions materials that are
distributed electronically to designated schools of
nursing for consideration. NursingCAS processes the
applications, provides support to applicants and
schools, and provides schools with information and
technology to make admissions decisions. There is
no charge for schools to participate in NursingCAS.

Florida International University (FIU) is proud to
launch Nursing Academia Activate - a social media
effort for nursing deans and directors to raise
awareness and champion the Campaign for APRN
Consensus initiated by the National Council of State
Boards of Nursing. The Affordable Care Act is
prompting many states to redefine the roles and scope
of practice of the APRN, making the need to unite for
uniformity in education and licensing greater than
ever. As nursing educators and leaders, we must make
our voices heard to affect change and use every tool at
