New Programs
Quality Module
(QA)
A new optional Quality Module provides for Inventory Control of materials or products in
new Quality Stores Types. This module has 10 transaction programs with a specific purpose
for each. It allows for imbedding documents in the database attached to transactions at the
Part, Lot and/or Serial Number transaction level. Additionally, the Quality Module allows
notes to be entered and become a part of the transaction. The module is customizable to
allow any or all of the above functions to be used on any transaction. More detail is provided
in “Expandable Quality Module” below page 18.
Editor Form Flow Designer
(XXEFD)
Release 9.0 has a new optional Form Flow Designer module for Editors which allows fields
to have their location on a Tab changed or moved from Tab to Tab. Tab names may be
changed and additionally, it allows the prompt text, color and font to be changed, as well as
the text box size to accommodate field sizes increased for the fields which allow the
customer to increase a field size in the Expandable Dictionary. Also, the Form Flow
Designer allows for modification of prompt order, to streamline data input. This function
should only be enabled for Users that have had Expandable training and who are capable of
testing their new forms. The redesigned forms can be assigned to a specific user or group of
users, as established in Expandable security. An editor has been provided which allows
copy, change and delete of new Form Flow Designs. More detail is provided in section
“Editor Form Flow Designer” page 21.

The first maintenance release of 9.0.0 (9.0.0.1) expands the Upload Utilities with optional

Other New Features
Expandable ERP Installer & Upgrade Utility
A new upgrade utility has been developed to ease the process of upgrading Expandable. A
single Upgrade executable is run which makes all changes to the database, including table
and column changes, stored procedures and views.

Chart of Accounts Table
Newly added to the GL Chart of Accounts are Financial Fields for Reporting and Special
Reporting. Five new fields have been added to the General Ledger Chart of Accounts for
special reporting tools (example Expandable Intelligence and BizNet GL Finance Reporting
package) as well 12 additional generic general purpose users fields have been added for users
to use as require by their business practice.

Changes Made to Existing Tables
Double Byte and Unicode Support for Multiple Languages
The system can now store, retrieve and search, double-byte language data. This necessitated
changes in every table in the system. The double-byte capability does not extend to the
licensing and login portions of the system, but will be introduced in a later release. Changes
to the tables consisted of conversion of data types from char, varchar and text to nchar,
nvarchar and ntext. Not all char were converted to nchar, some were converted to
nvarchar to save space. These changes are not detailed here however; a complete table list
(“table-list-and-layouts V9d0d0”) will be available through Expandable Customer Resource
Center or Customer Support.
KEY NOTE: Release 9.0.0 fundamentally changes the data base to support double byte
fields and effectively increases the size of the database. Upgrades should plan for any
possible increase of memory requirements in particular SQL database disk storage capacity
and any backup medium for a users database. Contact Expandable Customer Support with
any specific questions regarding the upgrade process to Release 9.0.0
KEY NOTE: The following Products and 3rd Party Products only support Single Byte
Languages (Latin based for example):

These products are compatible with Release 9.0.0 with Single Byte Language Data but do not
support the Double Byte Language Characters in the data.
Key Field Explanations
There were several field size increases made to the database tables to accommodate customer
requests and these are outlined in the table below. Current field size will be enforced with
dictionary entries and a user may open these fields as required by making dictionary changes,
the system will recognize and allow for a full 255 characters, in these columns. These
particular fields changes are to the Data Base only in support of customer needs to increase
field sizes for integration, reports will be the responsibility of the customer to modify in order
to accommodate the increased data size, otherwise the data will be displayed truncated in any
related reports.

Crystal Reports
Modified the Report Manager and Report Client to use a .NET crystal dll and upgraded all
the report templates to Crystal 2008; however, user are not required to upgrade their Crystal
Reports to Crystal 2008 and may continue with Crystal 10/11 templates, if desired.
KEY NOTE: Crystal 10 and Crystal 11 applications, Expandable 9.0.0 now comes with
Crystal 2008 Run Time Engine which will run reports developed in Crystal 10 or Crystal 11;
however, all base ERP/MRP reports have been upgraded to Crystal 2008 and users wishing
to modify base reports will require Crystal 2008 report designer. Users may continue to
modify or develop new reports in Crystal 10/11; the Crystal 2008 Run Time will execute
Crystal 10/11 based reports.

KEY NOTE: Quality stores types introduced in this release (see section: Quality Store
Room Types page 18) all support the same financial reporting as standard production
storerooms to track the financial impact of material resident in the Quality System.

Chart of Accounts
New reporting fields have been added to the Chart of Accounts to better support financial
reporting tools in categorizing and grouping accounts for reporting with Expandable
Intelligence and the new BizNet financial reporting tool. These reporting fields are contained
in a new “Reporting” tab in the Chart of Accounts editor.

In addition there has been an addition of 12 User Generic Reporting Fields to allow users
added reporting as needed by the demands of their business. These 12 fields are general 255
character field types to be used as a user see fit.
GL Real-Time Posting Service
(G3URP)
GL Real-Time Posting was changed from a desktop application to a service. It will update
transactions from the sub-ledgers to the general ledger for all databases on a server, based on
configuration options. The new service can be ‘started’ or ‘stopped’ for a specific database
on a server. The service is still running on the server, it is just not posting the transactions
from a database that has stopped posting. It will send out email a notification when posting
is stopped, based on configuration.

RF Data Collection - Serial Number Shipments Entry Module (R6TSE)
The Radio Frequency data collection program for Shipments Entry has been enhanced to
support Serialized Parts shipments. This program now supports both LOT controlled part
shipments as well as Serial Number controlled parts. Set up for the program follows the same
related Support Note: “How to use the RF (Radio Frequency) Device Functionality”,
Optional Module Support Note 13.
Stores Master
New stores types have been added to support quality segregation of material from production
material for quality inspection; review and disposition of material (see section Quality Store
Room Types page 18 below for details on the new quality store types).

New System Installer
Expandable has designed and spent significant resources in the creation of a very powerful
installation tool for initial installations and upgrade installations. This tool will insure that the
Expandable Database is properly configured and identify any issues and in many cases
correct issues preventing a smooth upgrade.
KEY NOTE: For Upgrades… Administrators must read all the upgrade installation
instructions and insure proper pre-configuration requirements are met before launching the
upgrade installer. Do Not attempt to perform an upgrade without following the upgrade
instruction provided by Expandable’s Customer Support
Editor Form Flow Designer (XXEFD)
Editor Form Flow Designer (XXEFD) is an optional module that allows the end user with
rights to use the module to reconfigure Expandable Editor Forms to better suit the user’s data
entry flow. This complex tool requires the user to be trained to perform form designs but
once trained allows a powerful user interface to be created to fit a specific business need.
Field structures can be opened up, moved within tab and moved between tabs, relabeled,
fonts and colors changed to highlight data entry, and tab orders change to better fit the data
entry logical to a business’s entry requirements. A menu item appears for users that have
User Rights to the program module and is only activated when a user wishes to make
changes to the form.

User Interface
Users will experience a New Look and Feel with Expandable ERP application inheriting the
Windows Theme of the user. This core change to Delphi allows the application to inherit the
windows theme and in particular will result in a different windows framing in Microsoft
Windows 7, Vista and Microsoft XP. XP, Vista, Windows 7 all have their unique look to
their operating system windows, Expandable will inherit the Individual User Theme with the
same look and feel as other applications run on those platforms.
Expandable Startup Screen – User Information WEB URL
Expandable’s main window will present a specific WEB URL landing page with pertinent
info for installed base (eventually News Letters, Training Schedules, Hot Tips, FAQ, etc.).
Displays on Expandable ERP start up and disappears when opening Expandable functionality
to reduce clutter. The URL will present itself in the main window only when all other
Expandable functionality windows have been closed. The URL is intended to be a user tool
