Steagald Politics and religion: a king and his presumption, a priest and his sacrifice. “Take a heifer with you and say, ‘I have come to sacrifice to the Lord.’” And indeed Samuel was there to sacrifice--but other, and much more than a heifer. Samuel’s trip to Bethlehem mirrors our own faith-journey as, with fear and trembling we leave God's past and enter God’s future. It is a good and joyful thing to gather together with our brothers and sisters in Christ to worship! In an effort to know who is here, we invite you to fill out the fellowship pew pad and pass it down the row. This is helpful as we seek to remain connected with our community as well as to share prayer needs, news of the community, and other details. The screens at the front of the sanctuary will provide the words to the hymns and responses. Our offering to God is usually taken up during the last hymn/song. The monies received not only go to support the operation of Hawthorne Lane UMC but also the mission and ministry supporting the growing of God’s Kingdom. Children are welcome to stay in worship or if you would like, our nursery is available for our youngest worshippers. Ask any usher to guide you downstairs at anytime during the service. Our nursery area remains locked to ensure their safety. For older kids attending worship, there are activity bags located in the rear atriums of the sanctuary. Lastly, if there is anything you need, especially prayer, don’t hesitate to see one of our pastors after worship or write it on the attendance pad. www.hlumc.org Hawthorne Lane UMC Staff In Service to Christ Today Rev.
