The Almost Faithful -‐ One Sheet Musical Genre: Art/Pop/Rock • City of origin: Seattle, Washington • Email: booking@thealmostfaithful.com Web: thealmostfaithful.com Facebook: facebook.com/thealmostfaithful Bandcamp: thealmostfaitful.bandcamp.com Band members: Kyung Lee -‐ Lead Vocals/ John Feodorov -‐ Guitar and Backing Vocals/ Kurt Keydel – Guitar and Backing Vocals/ Hal Deranek -‐ Bass/ James Lord -‐ Drums. The Almost Faithful write literate songs that address issues of love and loss, insomnia, colonization, and the humming of fluorescent lights. While lyrically philosophical, their songs are often seductively melodic and rhythmically syncopated. The band will release their debut 6-‐song EP “a city sleeps” in early March 2016. In a 1/6/16 review of the CD, the Northwest Music Scene describes the EP as, “a melodic offering of siren-‐like vocals by Kyung Lee, seductive lyrics of John Feodorov… at times progressive, often alluring, [and] touched by the grit of grunge, just like Seattle.” They add, “the band never stops delivering on songs that are worth listening to and repeating. Kyung’s delivery, reminiscent of Beth Gibbons, is bittersweet and dripping with sultry vocals. Where many bands would fail with mixing silvery vocals and grunge-‐
tinged progressive rock into one consistent package, The Almost Faithful succeeds brilliantly.” Points of Interest: •
The band was founded in fall 2014 by guitarist and principal songwriter John Feodorov. John is also a multi-‐media artist, art professor and served as an Arts Commissioner for the City of Seattle. He has been featured in numerous exhibitions and publications, including the PBS series, Art21: Art in the 21st Century. •
Vocalist Kyung Lee (who shares songwriting duties) was born in S. Korea and immigrated to the U.S. as a child. She admits to possessing "a wanderlust soul" and being most happy “when feeling small within the vastness of deserts, mountains, and blue waters." Her songs reflect her love of wide-‐open spaces. •
A Navajo raised in the suburbs of Los Angeles by his Jehovah's Witness mother, John Feodorov cannot help but infuse his songs with a sense of contradiction, alienation and irony. Chris Nickson, formerly of Seattle’s The Rocket, wrote that his songs, “... satisfy the intellectual and spiritual parts that others can’t reach” (The Rocket #242, 1996).
