BILLIKENS BEGIN “SECOND SEASON” VS.
VCU – The ninth-seeded Saint Louis Billikens
(14-15, 7-9 Atlantic 10) and the eighth-seeded
VCU Rams (16-13, 7-9) clash today in a secondround game of the Atlantic 10 Conference
Championship. The winner advances to
Friday’s quarterfinal round to face top-seeded
and nationally ranked George Washington at
11 a.m. The Billikens and Rams tied for eighth
place in the league standings; VCU’s regularseason win over SLU gave the Rams the No. 8
seed. Both teams are trying to steady the ship.
Saint Louis has dropped two straight and three
of its last four, including a 95-68 loss to Dayton
on Sunday. VCU has lost six of its last eight,
although the Rams won two in a row prior to
Sunday’s 55-49 loss to Richmond.
THE VCU SERIES – The Rams lead the Billikens
2-1. Two years ago in St. Louis, SLU beat VCU
60-46 in the Rams’ first conference game in the
A-10. VCU won 74-67 last season in Richmond
and 59-54 earlier this year in St. Louis.
VCU WINS REGULAR-SEASON MEETING – Saint
Louis fought back and trimmed a nine-point
deficit to a single tally, but VCU held on for a
59-54 victory Jan. 12 at Chaifetz Arena. Sadie
Stipanovich scored a game-high 15 points
(5-of-8 FG, 5-of-5 FT) and added six rebounds.
Jamesia Price was 3-of-4 from 3-point range
and finished with 11 points, six rebounds and
three assists. Maddison Gits contributed a
team- and career-high nine rebounds and a
career-high-tying eight points. Jackie Kemph
registered a game-high seven assists. VCU got
12 points and eight rebounds from Adaeze
Alaeze; 11 points from Monnazjea FinneySmith; nine points and eight rebounds from
Camille Calhoun; nine points, six rebounds
and four assists from Isis Thorpe; and 10
rebounds from Melanie Royster.
SLU TOURNAMENT HISTORY – Saint Louis is
3-7 in its A-10 Championship history, winning
first-round games in 2007, 2012 and 2013.
Against current A-10 members, SLU is 1-0 vs.
Richmond, 0-1 vs. Fordham, 0-1 vs. La Salle,
0-1 vs. St. Bonaventure, 0-1 vs. Saint Joseph’s
and 0-2 vs. Dayton. The Billikens are 6-19
overall in conference tournament play, going
3-8 in Conference USA (1996-2005) and 0-4 in
the Great Midwest Conference (1992-95).
STIPANOVICH, VLIET SHINE IN LOSS TO
DAYTON – Sadie Stipanovich scored a gamehigh 24 points and Jenny Vliet drilled a Saint
Louis season-high five 3-point field goals, but a
strong second half lifted Dayton to a 95-68 win
over the Billikens Sunday afternoon at Chaifetz
Arena. Stipanovich, who scored 20 or more
points for a sixth time this season, was 14-of18 from the free throw line. The 18 attempts
set a school record, while the 14 makes tied
the school mark. Both totals rank second in the
A-10 this season. Stipanovich also collected a
team-high six rebounds. Vliet scored all 15
of her points on a 5-of-6 performance from
beyond the arc. Jamesia Price and Jackie
Kemph tallied 12 and 11 points, respectively,
and registered five assists apiece. Price added
three steals.
BILLIKEN LEADERS – Sadie Stipanovich paces
the Saint Louis offense with 15.1 points per
game. Stipanovich is followed by Jackie Kemph
(9.7 ppg), Jamesia Price (8.3 ppg), Denisha
Womack (7.5 ppg), Jenny Vliet (6.9 ppg),
Olivia Jakubicek (6.2 ppg) and Erin Nelson (5.5
ppg). Stipanovich is atop the rebounding chart
with 6.8 boards per game, Womack (5.2 rpg) is
second, and Vliet (4.8 rpg) and Jakubicek (4.7
rpg) are battling for third. Kemph averages a
team-high 5.7 assists. Other leaders are Vliet
(42 3-pointers), Stipanovich (52.5 percent on

HEAD COACH LISA STONE – Third-year head
coach Lisa Stone owns a 541-289 record in
29 years as a collegiate head coach and a
38-52 mark at Saint Louis. Before arriving at
SLU, Stone was 128-119 in eight seasons at
Wisconsin, 64-27 in three years at Drake, 27759 in 12 campaigns at Wisconsin-Eau Claire
and 34-32 in three seasons at Cornell (Iowa).
THREE EARN ATLANTIC 10 HONORS – Sadie
Stipanovich, Jamesia Price and Jackie Kemph
were honored for their performances by
being selected for A-10 postseason honors.
Stipanovich was voted to the All-Conference
third team, Price made the All-Defensive team,
and Kemph was chosen to the All-Rookie team.

BILLS TIE RECORD FOR WEEKLY AWARDS –
Saint Louis players garnered four A-10 weekly
awards this season, tying the 2006-07 and
2008-09 teams for the most in program history.
Sadie Stipanovich was selected Player of the
Week Feb. 16 and Feb. 23; Jackie Kemph was
tabbed Rookie of the Week Jan. 26; and Jenny
Vliet was named Rookie of the Week Feb. 16.
The Billikens swept the Feb. 16 awards, the
first time that has happened in SLU’s 10 years
of A-10 membership.
LEAVING THE PAST BEHIND – With 14 victories
in the regular season, Saint Louis surpassed
the total of 12 wins it achieved in each of the
past two seasons. The 14 wins are the most for
SLU since 2002-03 (17). The Billikens tied last
year’s team for the most A-10 wins (seven) in
program history.
THE ROAD TO RICHES – SLU won six road
games this season, twice as many as last year.
SLU EARNS NCAA “TEAM OF THE WEEK”
AWARD – Following wins over No. 20/21
George Washington and Davidson, the Billikens
were named the NCAA women’s basketball
“Team of the Week” Feb. 17.
GOING CAROM CRAZY – Saint Louis’ 63
rebounds against George Mason tied the A-10
season high and were just four shy of equaling
the school record of 67 set Dec. 1, 1984, vs.
Western Illinois. The Billikens out-rebounded
the Patriots 63-28.
DECISIVE WINS MAKE HISTORY – The Billikens
have defeated four A-10 opponents by 18 or
more points – La Salle (29), George Mason
(23), George Washington (18) and Davidson
(18). This is the first season in which SLU has
posted a victory margin of at least 18 points
over four league opponents in any of the four
conferences of which it has been a member
(Midwestern Collegiate, Great Midwest,
Conference USA, Atlantic 10).
PILING UP THE POINTS – The Billikens have
topped the 70-point mark 12 times this season
– including five of the last eight games –
doubling last year’s total of six. Prior to the St.
Bonaventure game, SLU scored more than 70
points in four consecutive games, the first time
a Billiken team has tallied 70 or more in four
straight outings since the 2006-07 season.
DEFENSE PUTTING A LID ON THE BUCKET – SLU
has held its last 18 opponents to a combined
37.4 percent (406-of-1087) from the field,
down significantly from the 43.8-percent mark
posted by the Billikens’ first 11 opponents. In
the last 11 games, the Billikens have allowed
just 55 3-pointers (55-of-174, .316).
BILLIKENS SET TWO SCHOOL SEASON MARKS
– Saint Louis has set two school season records
this year. The Billikens have 501 assists, easily
breaking the previous mark of 440 (2002-03).
SLU’s total of 180 3-pointers surpasses the
previous record of 175 (1994-95).
EFFICIENCY KEEPS IMPROVING – SLU has had
more assists than turnovers in 18 games and
has more assists (501) than miscues (460) on
the season. That continues a trend established
last year, when the Billikens had more assists
than turnovers in 15 games – equaling the
number of times in the previous two seasons
combined (six in 2011-12, nine in 2012-13).
LOVIN’ IT FROM LONG RANGE – Saint Louis
was 9-of-18 from 3-point range in the regularseason finale vs. Dayton, the sixth time this
season – and fourth time in the last eight
outings – the Billikens have shot 50 percent or
higher from beyond the arc. Their 63 treys in
the last eight outings are the most they have
tallied in any eight-game stretch this season.
Three of the eight games were against the
A-10’s top two teams, George Washington and
Dayton (twice). Saint Louis was a combined
31-of-59 (.525) from 3-point distance in those
games.
CENTURY MARK x2 – Jackie Kemph enters
today’s game with 164 assists, while Jamesia
Price has 120. Statistics for the early years of
SLU women’s basketball are incomplete, but it
is believed that this is the first time that two
Billikens have had 100 or more assists in the
same season. Both players rank among the top
10 in the A-10 (Kemph second, Price sixth).
STRONG AT THE STRIPE – Saint Louis has
connected at a 74.8-percent clip (299-of-400)
from the foul line in the last 20 contests. The
Bills have averaged 20.4 free throw attempts
in their last 21 games after averaging just 13.9
in the first eight outings.
SPEED LIMIT 60 – Saint Louis has held 12
opponents, including eight of the last 14, to
fewer than 60 points. The Bills are 9-3 in those
12 games.
HOT AFTER HALFTIME – The Billikens scored
49 points in the second half vs. George Mason,
the 10th time this season they have scored in
the 40s or higher following intermission.
SCORING AVERAGE CONTINUES TO CLIMB –
Saint Louis averaged 54 points two years ago
in Lisa Stone’s first season as head coach. The
Billikens added more than eight points to their
scoring average last year, finishing at 62.1 ppg.
Through 29 games this season, SLU carries a
65.8 ppg scoring output. The last Billiken team
to average 65 or more points was the 2007-08
squad, which finished with 65.6 ppg.
KEMPH SETS SLU FRESHMAN ASSISTS MARK,
NOW SECOND OVERALL – Jackie Kemph’s 164
assists are a SLU freshman record, shattering
the previous mark of 105. Kemph is second on
the Bills’ overall single-season chart, trailing
only Kara Wile (183 assists, 1999-2000).
LUCKY 13 – SLU has committed 13 or fewer
turnovers nine times this season.
1-K FOR DESIRAE – In the La Salle game Jan. 21,
Desirae Ball became the 17th player in Billiken
women’s basketball history to score 1,000
career points. Ball now has 1,036 points.
VARIETY ON THE GLASS – The Billikens have
had seven different leading rebounders this
season. Sadie Stipanovich has led the team
on the glass 14 times, followed by Denisha
Womack (seven); Olivia Jakubicek and Jenny
Vliet (four); Jamesia Price (two); and Erin
Nelson and Maddison Gits (once).
FREQUENT FREEBIES FOR BILLIKEN TRIO –
Sadie Stipanovich, Jamesia Price and Denisha
Womack have done the bulk of the work at
the foul line for the Billikens. Stipanovich (118of-154), Price (87-of-119) and Womack (62-of96) have combined for 267 of the team’s 391
made free throws and 369 of its 539 attempts
(68 percent in both categories).
BALANCE BEYOND THE ARC – Five Billikens
have at least 23 3-point field goals. Jenny
Vliet leads the team with 42 treys, followed by
Jackie Kemph (35), Erin Nelson (32), Jamesia
Price (29) and Denisha Womack (23). Vliet
(42-of-111, .378) and Kemph (35-of-97, .361)
are ninth and 13th, respectively, in the A-10
in 3-point accuracy. SLU is third in the A-10 in
3-point field goals (6.2/game).
SEEING DOUBLE – Sadie Stipanovich owns
the team lead with 22 double-figure scoring
games. Jackie Kemph is second with 15, while
Jamesia Price is third with 14.

A GAME TO REMEMBER – Saint Louis’ 79-61
win over No. 20/21 George Washington was
its first victory vs. a ranked opponent since
Jan. 24, 2003, when the Billikens beat No. 20
DePaul 73-71 (OT) in a Conference USA game.
It also was the Billikens’ second win against an
unbeaten A-10 leader this season; SLU knocked
off a 6-0 Fordham team 54-50 Jan. 24. Against
GW, the Billikens’ 79 points established what
was then their A-10 season scoring high and

easily eclipsed the 69 points scored by Saint
Joseph’s as the most GW has allowed a league
opponent this year. The second-half total of
51 points is Saint Louis’ highest in any half
this season. SLU tied its season high of 11
3-pointers; shot a season-best 57.9 percent
(11-of-19) from distance; sank a season-high
24 free throws and tied its season high of 32
free throw attempts; and equaled its season
high of 11 steals.
RECORD CROWD WATCHES SLU-GEORGE
MASON GAME – The Billikens drew 7,184
fans to their Feb. 21 game vs. George Mason,
shattering the previous program record of
3,920 (Jan. 24 vs. Fordham) and establishing
an A-10 women’s basketball season high.
STIPANOVICH EARNS ALL-TOURNAMENT
PLAUDITS – Sadie Stipanovich was named to
the All-Tournament team at Montana’s Lady
Griz Holiday Classic. In two games, Stipanovich
averaged 23 points – including what was then
a career-high 28 vs. Utah Valley – and 7.5
rebounds. She shot 61 percent (17-of-28) from
the field and 92 percent (12-of-13) from the
foul line. Stipanovich added six blocks (careerhigh five vs. Utah Valley), one assist and one
steal and committed just one turnover.

Lisa Stone, who has a 541-289 record in her
29th year as a collegiate head coach, leads
the Saint Louis University women’s basketball
program for a third season in 2014-15.
The Billikens continued to show strong
progress in 2013-14, rebounding to win seven
of their last 12 games following a tough start.
Saint Louis posted a solid 9-5 record at Chaifetz
Arena, its best home mark in 11 years, and
won three consecutive conference road games
for the first time in program history. The Bills
increased their scoring average by 8.1 points
over the 2012-13 season.
Saint Louis’ 12-19 record in Stone’s first
campaign belied the team’s competitiveness
as nine of the Billikens’ losses, including four
in Atlantic 10 Conference play, were by seven
or fewer points. Defense was the team’s
calling card, with SLU allowing an average of
fewer than 60 points per game (57.9) for the
first time since the 1985-86 season. The Bills
held 11 opponents to fewer than 50 points, a
school record; six of the 11 were A-10 foes.
Saint Louis qualified for the A-10
Championship as the No. 11 seed and upset
No. 6 Butler in the first round. In addition, the
Billikens won six road games, twice as many as
the previous two seasons combined. It was the
first time since the 1985-86 season that SLU
recorded six road victories.
Prior to her arrival at Saint Louis, Stone
served eight seasons (2003-11) in charge at
Wisconsin. She began her head-coaching
career with a three-year stint at Cornell (Iowa)
College, spent 12 seasons at Wisconsin-Eau
Claire and had a three-year tenure at Drake.

Atlantic 10 Conference and a fertile recruiting
base, makes SLU women’s basketball poised

Stone guided Wisconsin to five postseason
appearances, two 20-win campaigns and a
128-119 record that included a 95-68 mark
in her final five seasons. In her fourth season
(2006-07), the Badgers won a school-record
23 games (23-13) and were WNIT runners-up.
Following WNIT appearances the next two
seasons, Wisconsin’s 2009-10 squad posted
a 21-11 record, tied for third in the Big Ten
Conference and earned an NCAA Tournament
bid. Stone was rewarded by being named
Big Ten Coach of the Year. The Badgers again
tied for third in the Big Ten in 2010-11 and
participated in the WNIT.
Wisconsin also excelled academically
with Stone at the helm. Twenty-one players
combined to earn 42 Academic All-Big Ten
nods during her tenure.
Stone’s 64-27 record at Drake included
a 42-12 Missouri Valley Conference ledger.
She led the Bulldogs to a 23-7 record, an
MVC regular-season co-championship and an
NCAA Tournament berth in her first season
(2000-01). Stone, whose 23 victories were the
most by a first-year MVC women’s basketball
coach, was tabbed the league’s Coach of the
Year. The following season, Stone’s team went
25-8, achieved a No. 20 national ranking and
reached the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16.
The Drake program also flourished in the
classroom under Stone’s leadership. The 200001 Bulldogs were ranked sixth on the Women’s
Basketball Coaches Association’s Academic

Top 25 Honor Roll, and the 2001-02 team
garnered a No. 15 ranking on the prestigious
list.
At NCAA Division III Wisconsin-Eau Claire,
Stone turned around a program that had
registered just one winning record prior to her
arrival. Her teams tallied a 277-59 mark (15933 in conference play), turned in 11 20-win
seasons, reached the NCAA Tournament 11
times and captured six league crowns.
Stone’s 1996-97 squad was the national
runner-up, and her 1993-94 team finished
third in the nation. She was chosen the 1997
WBCA Division III National Coach of the Year,
and in 2000 she was named D3 News/Molten
Division III National Coach of the Year as the
Blugolds posted a 28-1 record. A five-time
Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference
Coach of the Year, Stone was inducted into the
UW-Eau Claire Blugold Hall of Fame in 2006.
Stone’s accomplishments at UW-Eau
Claire led to her selection to the inaugural
class of the WIAC Hall of Fame earlier this
year. Additionally, she was named the WIAC
Women’s Basketball All-Time Co-Coach.
When Stone was named head coach at
Division III Cornell College at age 22 in 1985,
she was the nation’s youngest head basketball
coach at a four-year institution. She collected
a 34-32 record at Cornell and led the Rams to
the Midwest Conference’s Southern Division
title in each of her three years. Stone also
served as the Rams’ head softball coach.
In addition to her collegiate coaching
experience, Stone was a head coach in the 2001
WBCA All-Star Game as well as an assistant
coach for gold-medal-winning Team USA at the
2002 World Championships for Young Women
Qualifying Tournament in Brazil.
Stone holds a bachelor’s degree in physical
education (1984) and a master’s degree in
athletic administration (1986), both from the
University of Iowa. A four-year standout at
point guard under legendary head coach C.
Vivian Stringer, she is 26th in points (1,129),
tied for ninth in steals (177) and 12th in assists
(322) on the Iowa career charts. Stone also
owns a share of the Hawkeyes’ record for
steals in a game (nine).
An Oregon, Wis., native, Stone was a threetime team captain and a two-time Hawkeye
Most Valuable Player. As a senior, she won
the Big Ten Medal of Honor as one of the
conference’s top scholar-athletes and captured
the Iowa Student-Athlete of the Year award.
Stone earned four letters each in basketball,
tennis and track and field during her high
school career. She helped lead Oregon to the
Wisconsin Class A state basketball tournament
in 1979 and 1980, and she earned first-team
All-State honors as a senior and second-team
recognition as a junior.
Stone and her husband, Ed, a certified public
accountant, are the parents of a daughter,
Allison, and a son, Tyler. Allie will graduate in
May 2015 from Wisconsin-Eau Claire, where
she was an All-Conference soccer player. Tyler
is a sophomore at SLU and serves the Billikens
as a team manager.

Stipanovich, Price, Kemph Earn Atlantic 10 Conference Honors
ST. LOUIS – Sophomore center Sadie Stipanovich, redshirt-junior guard Jamesia Price and freshman guard Jackie
Kemph of the Saint Louis University women’s basketball team have earned Atlantic 10 Conference postseason accolades,
the league office announced today.
Stipanovich was selected to the All-Conference third team, giving Saint Louis its first All-Conference choice since
the 2009-10 season. Price was named to the All-Defensive team, becoming the first Billiken to earn the honor. Kemph
garnered a place on the All-Rookie team, giving SLU a representative on that unit for a second consecutive season.
Stipanovich leads Saint Louis in scoring (15.1 ppg, seventh in the A-10), rebounding (6.8 rpg, tied-10th), field goal
percentage (.525, third, 31st nationally), free throw percentage (.766, 13th), blocked shots (1.14 bpg, ninth) and offensive
rebounding (2.28 orpg, 15th). In A-10 games only, she finished fifth in the conference in scoring (15.7 ppg), seventh in
rebounding (7.8 rpg), sixth in field goal percentage (.517), 12th in free throw percentage (.768), 11th in blocked shots (1.19
bpg) and tied for 12th in offensive rebounding (2.50 orpg).
Stipanovich has team highs of six double-doubles, 22 double-figure scoring games, six double-figure rebounding
games and six scoring totals of 20 or more points, including an A-10 season-high-tying 35 points vs. George Mason. The
two-time A-10 Player of the Week has led the Billikens in scoring a team-high 15 times and in rebounding a team-high 14
times.
Stipanovich is fourth in free throws made (118), tied for seventh in blocked shots (33) and tied for eighth in points
(438) on the Billikens’ all-time single-season lists. On SLU’s single-season lists for sophomores, she ranks first in free throws
made and second in points and blocks. Stipanovich is tied for eighth in Saint Louis history with 57 career blocked shots.
Price, who regularly is assigned to guard the opponent’s top perimeter offensive threat, leads the Billikens and
ranks 14th in the A-10 in steals (1.6 spg). In league games only, she tied for 10th in steals (1.7 spg). Price’s career-high 46
thefts rank fourth on SLU’s single-season list for juniors.
“Mesi sets the tone for us defensively,” head coach Lisa Stone said. “She leads the team in taking charges and is
one of the toughest, most tenacious on-ball defenders in the A-10. She also does a great job off the ball and is good at
dropping down to help defend the post.”
In addition, Price is third in the A-10 in assist-turnover ratio (1.79 to 1) and sixth in assists (4.1 apg). In conference
games only, she averaged 4.6 assists (fifth in the A-10) and had a 1.97 to 1 assist-turnover ratio (third) in conference games
only. She averages 8.3 points and 4.4 rebounds overall, and in A-10 contests, she tied for second on the team in scoring
(10.2 ppg) and rebounding (5.0 rpg). Price has led the Billikens in steals 17 times, in assists 11 times, and in scoring and
rebounding twice each.
Price’s 303 career assists rank sixth in Saint Louis annals. Her 120 assists this year are 10th on SLU’s overall singleseason list and second on the Bills’ single-season list for juniors.
The only Billiken to start every game, Kemph is second in the A-10 and 20th nationally with 5.7 assists per game.
Her 164 assists, shattering the previous SLU freshman record of 105, are No. 2 on SLU’s all-time single-season list. Kemph’s
10 assists vs. Mercer, one of 10 times she has registered seven or more helpers, are tied for the Saint Louis season high and
tied for third most in the A-10 this season. She has tallied more assists than turnovers in 22 of 29 games.
Kemph leads the team in minutes (34.7 mpg) and ranks second in scoring (9.7 ppg), 3-point field goals (35) and
steals (30). She is fifth in the conference in minutes, sixth in assist-turnover ratio (1.49 to 1) and 13th in 3-point field goal
percentage (.361). In A-10 games only, Kemph finished fifth in 3-point accuracy (.404). The Jan. 26 A-10 Rookie of the Week
has led the Billikens in assists 21 times, in steals nine times and in scoring three times.
